Hard frost overnight, birdbaths frozen solid. Things are thawing but it's very cold out, and the general greyness doesn't help. It was better first thing when the cloud was broken and although the sun wasn't out it was reasonably bright and there was a bit of (admittedly pale) blue sky. Rain to look forward to later although not until the end of the afternoon it's reckoned - I hope that's correct as I have to go out after lunch.

It didn't actually rain when I was out earlier - but the cloud did get rather leaky on the way back (big isolated drops, and spats of drizzle) so I was glad I had brought a hat with me.
