Every time I post about fine weather here I am all too aware that it likely means the opposite in your neck of the woods; perhaps I should stop, it seems unfair.
As for Gove - the weather may be out of your control but why add to the misery by watching that poisonous little alien being?

The reason I post weather conditions is that, as often as not, the BBC et al totally fail to take much if any detailed notice of what is happening outside the cities of UK.

Which is why many in tis rural, fairly wild, upcountry area have been forced to research and use a NORWEGIAN WEATHER organisation for farming purposes etc which presents them with FAR more accurate and thus trustworthy predictions.

I KNOW that such areas as mine are v.diff to get right, of course, but...but..... We are NOT London, NOT SE.............

Yes, draco. I’m in the Great Glen and find it pretty accurate.

An awful day, thus far. I’m hoping to visit my mother later this morning. Hopefully the weather might’ve cleared!

Big factor here is the wind. Fierce, blustery and every so often with a bucket of freezing rain in it.

Yes - very mild, dark and windy. Fortunately I went for an earlier than usual walk and avoided the rain that's bucketing down now.

Just like last time, that rain belt has some distance to travel before it reaches us. But there was plenty of drizzle to be faced on my cycle journey to the shops earlier on, driven by a strong wind. First there's the problem of cycling into it with spectacles on, and then that of the specs misting up on entering shop premises. "It's very foggy in here today", as I like to say! Tonight that rain should clear through here, to be followed, as everywhere, by showers on a still blustery south-westerly - temperatures keeping well above the mid-December normal maximum hereabouts of 7 C. Colder stuff is expected to arrive on Thursday - just in time for Christmas: northern hills and fells resembling Xmas puds sprinkled with icing sugar.

Wind now seriously whacking south-facing windows.

There are some nice cumulonimbus clouds wafting in from the SW on the unstable maritime polar airstream - lightning just now registered near Wallingford, to the west of London; brilliant low-slung sunshine flooding into my south-facing living room, warming the back of my sofa. Temperature a damp mild 10 C.

That's my general philosophy these days BBM and not just for the weather! It looks as if today will be one for garden pottering, putting off chores for tomorrow which looks as if it will be wet right through.

Bright and sunny start here again today.
It was clear last night, too, so I was able to see the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction well.

Flickers of bright sun between MASSIVE purple-grey rain clouds on a fierce SW wind after a wild night.

Well it certainly was here! Yesterday afternoon's cloudburst - 10 minutes of gales-driven torrential rain - at least offered the evidence needed that our roof gutters need clearing. Today was almost spring-like 0 up to 9 C in a gentle south-wester, little cloud to speak of. After lunch I set to work trimming the old lady's roses, across the road. They've been very badly tended to for so long that getting to the stems needing cutting back resembled ramming my hand into barbed wire, so that even my gardening gloves were insufficient protection! Three medium-sized floribundas took an hour and a half, by which time it was getting too dark to continue. "I've only got three roses" she had told me: actually it is six!
