Unbroken blue sky here today; very welcome.
A neighbour set up his telescope on the road outside yesterday evening, and I was able to see Jupiter (and its four moons) in conjunction with Saturn.
With luck, the sky might be even clearer tonight, when he plans to return with a better telescope.

Well, if it's moving East as predicted, I'd get yourself ready for a minor tempest - absolutely shoaling it down here and driven by a fierce and unrelenting big wind.
Yes, not too cold, but....yuk...blue bags and green bins and boxes bowling down pavements! Phew!

The first forecasts for Xmas Day indicate depressions over N France and the north of Norway, with high pressure to the west and a cold north-north-westerly bringing air down from as far north as Iceland, but no further. This is about as near as it can get to "a white Christmas", but I would think the air would only be cold enough to bring snow in any showers down the eastern side of England and Scotland to north-facing elevations from, say, Derbyshire and N Wales northwards. It is a colder forecast than I'd been expecting, but we'll have to wait to firm up on precise details.

Sorry to brig the mood down, BUT banging in from west is thick rain on an icy westerly, and it is generally deeply depressing day heading towards a hefty night.
And all this while Gove blams and blaffs on in a live Select Ctte on BBC Parliament about future EU relationships with us.
