Down here, wild, wet and windy!

A bright and breezy morning following a pretty sunrise and, "in a change to the advertised programme" it looks as if it should stay sunny most of the day. I assume the forecast wetness was what I heard clattering away in the early hours and went through quicker/sooner than expected when I checked last night. It will make it easier to get my errands done as they involve a number of 'can't be done by car' tasks round town. Always a way to get fresh(ish) air and exercise,, but much more pleasant if dry and sunny - and a higher chance of brief (rule abiding) social encounters.

Well, as predicted the showers have just now kicked off here, and I guess with the air temperature rising above that crucial 8 C trigger they will be generating in clumps inland, as well as along the S coast, for the rest of the day. Just when I need to make a 5-mile cycle ride to get some provisions that seem to be unavailable in my vicinity!

Dry, mild, sunny but windy here.

I managed to miss the worst of the midday shower on my way down to Elmer's End, but also the 1pm news, with which I caught up by watching BBC News, on which they showed the reporter's perch on the rooftop opposite Westminster Abbey looking north. I say "view" advisedly, given that anything beyond a couple of hundred metres was blotted out by torrential rain so heavy that the man in the nice Broadcasting House could hardly make out her words! Here it was already almost dark by 3.30.

Oh yesterday, was rather a mixed bag. Today, could be similar?

Weird in Southampton this morning: went from bright orange with heavy cloud to sunny to downpour and back very rapidly. Difficult to avoid getting soaked.

It's less usual to see large cumulonimbus clouds at this time of the year than in summer, when higher temperatures allow for broad scale convection to take place inland as well. When one does the illuminative effect of the low angled sunshine catching the undersides of the anvil clouds is nature at its drama queen best!

                      Hope you're keeping well, greenilex?

A lovely sunny morning and I'm hoping to get into the garden for a bit now after our work and volunteer Zoom party.

Strange light in the sky - really concerned - is it....? Could it be.....?
                          WOW!

                          It IS!

A most enjoyable couple of hours mens doubles tennis this morning. Bright winter sun was a hazard from one end. Also breezy - a shower came and went very swiftly and my heart leapt out when I beheld a rainbow in the sky.

Unbroken blue sky here today; very welcome.
A neighbour set up his telescope on the road outside yesterday evening, and I was able to see Jupiter (and its four moons) in conjunction with Saturn.
With luck, the sky might be even clearer tonight, when he plans to return with a better telescope.
