Lovely day here too - lovely visit and walk at an NT garden today. Sunny Autumn days are a real treat!

Rather a grey day, but not as cold as yesterday(which was really uncomfortable), and staying dry for the volunteer gardening. As we only have 2 mornings a week(3 people on each day) for a few weeks(originally just October but now looks as if we have an extension to end of November)to try and deal with 6 months of neglect any bad weather is a real problem. The extreme volatility we've seen recently has made things very difficult, but at least all involved live within just a few(5 or less) miles so can take a chance without too much difficulty. We used to have quite a few who came some distance and as no travel expenses are available that did cause problems if the forecast was doubtful or if what was happening on site was different from what was happening when they set off from home.
There are now somewhat veiled glimpses of both blue sky and sun which is a better way to end the day than thick grey or wet.

I don’t think today is going to be all that great. Hoping to visit mum later.

Likely to be a mixed bag today by the looks of it. Wrap up warm and be prepared for rain sums it up I think in terms of getting around, but there might be some glimpses of sun to lift the gloom - fingers crossed.

It seems low wind in coming days may lead to power shortage. https://www.theguardian.com/business...-next-few-days

We easily blame companies for over-uses of electricity, and yet the number of home refits with multiple ceiling recessed light fixtures I now see around me makes me wonder: it is realy necessary to have ten lights on in one's living room - eight of them ceiling, two table lamps? I manage to make do with three on at the most in a medium-sized living room, one each in bathroom and kitchen respectively, one here on the desk next to the computer monitor, and one in the bedroom - my bedside lamp - and this would have been seen as extravagant by my predecessors. I blame it on home makeover programmes, and that smug pair Kirsty and Phil.

Exactly 9 C, following drenching shower on the way back home from Brixton Tesco on my bike. (Story 'bout that on the "A Funny Thing Happened... " thread).

A bit of good luck yesterday getting back home just as the first drops of rain fell, so was able to admire(!) the cloudburst from indoors. There might be rain today - "scattered showers" - but with any luck they shouldn't be too heavy, and a good chance of missing entirely, just as well since it's cold with it.

Looks as though it should be OK here today but the forecast has changed to less sunny than previously predicted.

Grey, quiet, can't make up its mind what to do.

Quite dank and chilly hereabouts. 8C with 98% humidity, it having rained overnight, but sun coming through and a reasonable day in outlook.
