Well, it now looks as if that same cold front will not be delivering much rain hereabouts, as it marches its way SE; but I have been caught out with similar set-ups in the past!

This afternoon a NWerly régime sets in across the land, and looks likely to be around for much of next week too, meaning cold nights and colder days. Time to get the central heating on, I anticipate.

There's been a lot of activity on the weather front today, with the situation changing each time I've looked, to the point where I stopped trying to judge from 'data' and went by looking at the sky and taking a chance for my afternoon errands. It paid off although the map is now covered by rain cloud material and it's suddenly become 80% possibility of rain shortly so I'll need to keep an eye on the washing. More sun than expected - particularly welcome as the wind is very cold.

Well, earlier afternoon it was so clear and cold here, I feared frost, started to move some plants indoors. Then..........cloud and rain??? Erm?

I hope going to be a good day, weather wise, as me and MrsBBM have to do things this morning.

Currently a fair bit of blue sky and sun but the clouds are travelling at speed so I think it could be one of those changeable days where seize the moment and expect the worst come into play! I have various small tasks in the garden that lend themselves to popping out for 10 minutes or so ,and s I think that's what I'll be doing for fresh air (and it is a tad fresh) today.

Yesterday was very changeable here. Today, my phone says mostly sunny, no rain forecast - here's hoping.

I know - and they got that wrong: there have been quite a number of small but by no means insignificant showers around today.

None here today, but tomorrow morning will be a different situation.

And we are facing a decidedly odd pattern of weather for the next week, firstly with low pressure slipping down across the country in association with the nor-westerly flow established on Friday with a blocking high to the west; then the occlusion associated with that low hanging around until Wednesday; and then high pressure blocks forming to the north and northwest keeping winds coming from the NE until the weekend at least. In all my years of amateur observing I've never seen anything like it at this time of the year - but a number of professionals, working and retired, are now saying that hundreds of years of experiencing the ameliorating effects of the Gulf Stream providing for an equable mild predominantly westerly/south-westerly based climate are now over, meaning we are to be at the mercy of more of the extremes of wet and dry, and hot and cold, which have become the "new normal" (to coin a phrase) for the past few years.

Light patchy rain this afternoon? - my a*se!!! It's been bucketting down here, and so dark I've had to put all the lights on . No question it's a deep cumulonimbus sitting right on top of us.

I sometimes think the forecasters spend so much time staring at their charts and diagrams they never get to look out through their windows. That's assuming they're allowed to have windows, and that thing otherwise known as the outside!
