    Maximum of 11C forecast today.
We've used the excuse that the hot water system is due its annual service next week to switch the CH part on to check the radiators.

I booked my CH/boiler annual check for 14 October online, two weeks ago; I've never had to book for it that far ahead: normally booking space has come up for a week later at most, in the past.

50/50 sunshine and cloud here, following a rainy start, with a bracing nor'wester, and midday temperature at just 12 C - 8 C below the mean for late September! That low stuck in the North Sea, due to high pressure blocking over E Europe, looks likely to remain in situ until tomorrow night, so our friends on the East Anglian coast have more of the same to look forward to until Sunday, I'm afraid.

I had my jew flab done this morning!

That's rather an inflammatory bit of news...

Currently a brief let-up in the rain but it's due to resume before long and continue for most of the rest of the day. I don't know how much rain we've had but it started on Thursday and apart from a few hours late evening yesterday has continued since. Old washing up bowls I have for gardening are full to the brim so possibly 5" plus?. Now perishing cold and still pretty gusty. The wind direction meant that the wood store, open at the front,(but normally well protected by buildings) got the full effect of the rain - no point trying to pull the plastic cover down it would only have been shredded - so just as well I haven't yet arranged the winter delivery. It does mean that the few logs left won't be that good for burning until they been indoors for a while, so I'll have to use the CH. Ah well, could be worse, and I'm all too aware that for many it has been, and possibly still is.

Here too, lovely morning but cold breeze. Bike trip to paper shop required woolly hat, gloves and winter jacket.

That figures - it's overcast here from horizon to horizon! On the plus side it's not as cold as yesterday and it's not actually raining, although there is slight intermittent dampness of the fine drizzle/mizzle kind. The wind is doing a reasonably good job of lifting the moisture, and I've put some washing out for a flap - but I need to keep an eye out that it stays on the line.

                              Ditto here, pretty much.
