Went downtown today. The car barometer said 19C. So I thought ok, I’ll just need a hoodie. How wrong I was! Felt like 9C! As soon as me and MrsBBM arrived back at our car,, I quickly put on my fleece, I brought with me! Brrrr!

Well, it certainly warmed up hereabouts this afternoon, despite stratocumulus infill invading most of the sky following what had been a sunny morning - and quite humid with it. Crystal Palace Park was full of relaxed people taking walks and holding mini-barbecues. Kids were making the most of the newish skateboard area situated at the eastern end of the park, and not far away a Christian vocal group were singing gospelly stuff to a recorded soundtrack. I needed to ease up my back following yesterday's exertions, and made it home with ten minutes to spare before the start of Jazz Record Requests!

Never cold, rain always threatening, and when it came, it was torrential - for 15 minutes, then, a bit embarrassed by the noise it had made, it just.well,..... sort of ...stopped!

A pleasant day yesterday, with more sun than expected and no rain. This morning is very murky and although the murk is thin enough to be able to see the sun is still up there, I suspect it could take a while to clear away fully.

Sounds like good timing there! I hope today will bea good one, because, it’s always better on these days to have a saunter! Supposed to be. BBC Weather says sunny intervals and a gentle breeze. Max 17C! Hmmm...

No need to apologise - the Met got the forecast comprehensively wrong for here, so it's been thin rain here too; no mist over the fells(!) but not a clear horizon by any means thanks to the general murk, which almost seems murkier now than it did when I first posted. I was a bit doubtful about the dry forecast as the map was showing a socking great blue with colourful bits blanket over a significant area, but as it had cleared and was continuing to travel away from that particular recording station perhaps they thought it not worth mentioning... The Beeb did manage to get its version right, but then its recording station has been and is still right under the blanket. Tiresome as I have a load of washing to hang out including towels and jeans which aren't easy to deal with indoors. Just have to hope it will indeed clear up later on.

Bright sunshine earlier but now overcast. My wife has just asked me to check whether she'll be OK meeting her friend at an outdoor cafe this afternoon. Not obvious from radar charts with showers possible but I said I thought she'd probably get away with it.

Going to be cloudy today. No doubt a might one on top, with a max of 22C!

                          Virtual white-out up here. a.m.
......and still, four hours later. p.m.
And now, wall-to-wall finest, fine rain that has soaked all - and I do mean ALL - including THROUGH over-trousers, and a thick anorak.
Not cold, even the NW breeze is warmish. 9.30 p.m.

Started off cloudy but warm. Now the sun's out and it's a perfect late summer's day.

Suddenly tipped back into summer. Opening the back door about 6-30 this morning I was greeted by warm mugginess akin to a bathroom after a long soak, and once the sun got going it became hot - max of 26 on the outside shade thermometer.

Well it got to 25 C here, and very close with it - almost unbearable. Similar tomorrow, while at the same time freshening up from the NW as the day goes on, though the weakening cold front is not expected to reach the SE until after dark.
