It's felt warmer outside today than the forecast led us to believe though no doubt the absence of any wind has been a factor. However, it feels much chillier indoors and that means the heating goes on every now and then in order to keep it staying comfortable.

Outdoor thermometer showing overnight low of 5 degrees - ouch. Sunny still morning so far, but due to cloud over later. Wind's in a cold quarter but very light so should avoid things getting too chilly when the sun's not out.

Overnight minimum here 9.5 C - one of the many advantages of living near the coast! (Actually, the only drawbacks that come to mind are chilly spring winds and the occasional loss of Freeview channels and/or interference from Continental stations - a small price to pay)

And for this week it has to be said. What follows is a middling sort of changeability, with fronts invading from the west once more, and the north and west taking the lion's share of wind and rainfall marking the start of what promises to be a coolish first half of September. Nights should be less cold, though.

while sheltered rural areas in particular will also become rather chilly by the end of the night. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

I would have guessed that as it has been a pleasant day here! It was chilly first thing but the sun got the temperature up and the morning in particular was a lovely September day - warm but not hot, with a slight breeze, blue sky with pretty clouds. The afternoon has become more cloudy but still pleasant. Overnight things change; this time I don't think we will miss the rain as it's a socking great blanket hung N/S and travelling east. I hope it clears across by morning otherwise it'll be a damp day and unhappy visitors at work tomorrow.

Between around 2 pm and 6 pm it rained quite heavily here yesterday. Today, cloudy, muggy, and threatening to rain - and this looks likely to be the picture for tomorrow down here in the south, though further north it will be fresher with breezy sunshine, and further north still, showers.
