The wind is picking up and the clouds massing again ready for more wetness later, but the brief interlude of sun and sight of blue sky was pleasant and welcome for my shopping trip.

Sun's out now, but we had a loud rumble of thunder here at about 11 am in a short spell of heavy rain, although the lightning detector registered nothing. Must have been quarantined!

      More to come this weekend!

Turned out to be a slightly showery day yesterday. Today,, looks a bit sunny, so we will wait and see.

Very murky at the moment, the cloud seems to have succumbed to gravity, but the weather map is clear of rain clouds and the sun is forecast to appear in a little while, so it could be an OK sort of morning.

Wild, wild day here - NE wind. Feels more like February.

With today being mild and muggy after the cold I was just thinking that the conditions have probably been suitable for starting potato blight, which would also threaten my tomatoes, and sure enough Ireland has got blight warnings out. Will need to find the seaweed spray and keep a close eye on the plants - as if they haven't had enough to cope with since being planted out! Outdoor toms are always a gamble now though - some years I win, others not.

The "containerised" ones being grown by the neighbours seem to be growing fine here - not sure if or how blight manifests: not apparently at the flowering stage, which his are still at.

The frontal rain - which we were warned at lunchtime could be heavy and thundery - is passing through right now. Largish drops, but not especially profuse.

Been bleakly cold and grey today - impossible to think of it as mid-June.
                          EXCEPT
I looked back in my diary for 2019, and blow me but we had very nearly the same intimidatingly non-summer weather for the same week.
                          Hmm. a trend? a pattern?

This week in June can either be a scorching heatwave or as drab as today and I can recall various years when it's been one or the other. Still. even by the standards of some of the worse ones yesterday and today have been real shockers. The strong winds and heavy rain yesterday forced me to dig out the woolly hat, something I can't remember doing in June before (though I have in August).

Next week is said to better.

Very much agreed with you Pet, re June. Yesterday turned out to be rather windy and nondescript. Today, looks as though it will be alright.

I just managed to make it home from an early evening stroll around the block as the heavens opened.

This followed a jazzy afternoon in the garden, jamming alongside neighbours and friends of theirs.
