Dreadful weather today in the East Riding - torrential rain and strong winds! Definitely not going anywhere in that!

Long concentrated line of thuinderstorms stretching between Worcester and Chelmsford moving slowly south and right now invading north London - expect it'll be here in the next 15-20 minutes, could be interesting! Very cool for June - maximum temperature only 13 C today, or 55 F in old money.

The unusual weather pattern continues next week; we can anticipate a lot more rain for all parts on Wednesday and Thursday, with it turning windy as well on Thursday, after which temperatures should return to being on the warm side, but remaining rather unsettled in the south.
I have to admit to having got caught in rain on my 3-mile circular walk this afternoon - embarrassing (2 r's, 2 s's) given how much trust I place in my forecasts! Luckily I'd decided to take my telescopic umbrella "in case", which turned out useful the moment the rain became moderate. Unfortunately I sustained a cut to my head when I walked off-path to let a family through, and failed to notice an overhanging branch, as a consequence of my umbrella being up! It's surprising how much blood can ooze from quite a minor head wound, as was only apparent from staring onlookers when I got back home!

Nice enough for a socially distanced picnic with younger son and his GF on Southampton Common at lunchtime today. Probably around 20 C, and the lightest of breezes.
What a wonderful place Southampton Common is, and being so well used these days.
If you don't know the city and happen to find yourself there, do go and have an explore of the Common, you really will be doing yourself a favour.Last edited by teamsaint; 07-06-20, 18:57.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

The White Swan, by the Itchen, was another regular haunt. It was within easy reach of South Stoneham tower, where I first heard 'The White Album' and which, I was sad to discover, is now abandoned and awaiting demolition.Last edited by LMcD; 08-06-20, 06:04.

Overcast, windy and cold, but dry and should stay so apparently. The cloud is higher and whiter so not so gloomy, and the sun might break through, which would be good.
S A sorry to hear about your aboreal contact - you are right about the amount of blood a head wound can cause, it can be alarming.
