Also worrying is that young kids are rightly being encouraged by / with parents to learn how to ride safely on roads while traffic is light.
    Yes, but...yes, but.............
.....the roaring passage of motorbikes in processions of ten, fifteen or twenty - one here about an hour ago of 23 nose to tail - past these nervous kids is scary.

I fear that a few inconsiderate bikers give the rest a bad name.
I remember being deeply impressed by those that would turn out regularly to show their respect at (Royal) Wootton Bassett following the repatriation of the bodies of soldiers killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes, and up here we have the wonderful 'blood bikers' who carry express and essential medical supplies round the NW and Pennines.

But, let me tell you, these guys are deffo NOT them!!
Noise, pollution, sudden danger on roads that have been very sparsely populated - this can all catch out the unaware.
Not that you can be unaware of roaring bike posses!!

I know one of these blood bikers. Terrific guys. They have to use their own money to put fuel in their bikes too! Sometimes, that can be quite financially challenging for them as well. Bless them!

It’s going to be 24C today!

Other than mention of 'some thundery showers possible' and 'localised downpours' the chance of rain has seemingly evaporated(!) Last night there was 80% chance of heavy rain at the peak of a period of wetness in the morning, which I was taking into account for walk and errands - not much point now. A wet Friday is now off as well it seems. Ah well, I didn't really think it would happen...

Just checked our local forecast. The POP* for today has been reduced - another watering session this evening, methinks..

Well we do live in the driest part of the UK...

Sun fleetingly emerging from deep cloud now and again.

Splendid sun with a coolish breeze taking the edge off the heat.

Encouraged by sunshine I planted out runner beans this week. They seem to be going ok. Soil very dry on top luckily still moist underneath.

And yet, you've been within a stone's throw of thunderstorms which formed just off the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline around the time you posted that message. Lots of lightning flashes!

I'm sorry they formed further north from here than I thought at 6 am, when I peeked out through the window and saw copious amounts of elevated thundery cloud. People around here have been going indoors, saying it's too hot to sunbathe today! Unless it rains here tomorrow morning (just when I'm due to go to the local supermarket!) it seems we are not due any more rain until, possibly, Thursday.

The coast is another country! There were some sort of promising clouds in the morning but they stayed high and moved away swiftly, since when it has been cloudless blue sky and very hot, although the temperature is a more manageable 25 in the shade now.
Sadly the sky has been slashed by several contrails the past couple of days particularly yesterday evening.

Up here, day has turned into the totally perfect early Summer evening, BUT, out west, just a hint that there is something wetter and colder on the way in.

There’s been a dusty stillness to the sunniest parts of this week that’s been quite magical.
