Well, a good day for my afternoon walk: the heavenly scent of hawthorn, cow parsley, lilac etc; and, in its plentifulness, all the wonderful new foliage looks somehow richer set against grey skies. Looks like a largely dry week ahead, apart from for the extreme SW, with temperatures much as one would expect for early May.

Later: Neighbouring woods busier than I've seen the local high street since meltdown - everyone courteously giving way on the approach of this poor old bloke. Most young dads nowadays seem to be conforming to the self-replicating beard-with-short-hair look - which seems all wrong to me: as one who lived through the sartorially transgressive 60s and 70s, beards go best with long hair, imv.

Possibly an uninspiring day to look out on, methinks.

That's a shame. Are there birds and blooms to look at even if the weather isn't so good?
It's cloudy here with the possibility of rain in places and the wind yet again is keeping the temperature down. On the plus side night temperatures are well clear of frost - but not that different at times from the day version, especially when wind chill is taken into account! Means I don't need to panic if I've forgotten to shut up the little opp-up growhouse - going down a very long garden in the dark(no streetlights in the fields my patch backs on to!) isn't a sensible thing to do so I don't.

Looking OK here at the moment but brisker easterly winds expected this evening!

....and easterlies already firmly in control up here, and blustering too.

Hot and sunny with just a light easterly breeze.

Nasty shock expected to the system this coming Sunday and Monday, due to a very late season northerly outbreak. The eastern side should be OK for cold nights not being frosty - the wind keeping up should put paid to frost - but watch out the further north and west you happen to be.

And tonight, just been out, and that easterly - actually ESE - is aggressive and fierce. High moon, almost clear skies............phew, is it COLD!

Alas - like Winnie, we're stuck in a bit of a hole at present. Let's hope Wol can get us out before too long.
                              Fresh easterly breeze this morning.

Wet, windy and a forecast suggesting not changing any time soon! Staying home seems excellent advice!
