Lack of contrails from air traffic makes a difference.

I have finally had the courage to turn my heating off, and am hoping that the solar water-heating will cope on its own for the foreseeable...we’ll see.

Another cloudless day in prospect here.

The forecast is that 'the isobars will widen' and the strength of the easterly breeze will diminish accordingly. I shall check this out during my morning walk!

There's a great free app called 'isobar' which gives the current and predicted synoptic chart for the UK. Definitely becoming more spaced out over the next three days.

That would be good - hours of dessicating gusts in the high 20s are tiring and don't do growing plants any good. It doesn't do my pollen issues any good either with dust being added to the irritation. There was a noticeable layer of murk on the horizon as the sky began to lighten at dawn.

Well as I post up here, it sure is bending every tree, flower and bush - not to mention people

It is absolutely BOILING on the S. Coast. Sea calm, hardly a breath of wind.

Worn itself out flattening the rest of us!

It's many years since I last got spaced out.

Lovely day but really cool. I’ve got the heating on low.

That easterly has had a long "fetch" across a cold North Sea before reaching where you are, Lez, whereas down here the N Sea crossing is much shorter and the Continental air is beginning now to warm up.

It's often the other way around in winter - the Continent colder than the sea, the south being a lot colder than the north, when there is a Beast from the East. Right now we're at the seasonal transition from winter to summer conditions.

Just about perfect here. Very warm, just a breath of breeze.

                              Plants needing daily watering.

The wind dropped right away quite suddenly at about 6 pm and as the skies are clear I suspect it could get rather cold tonight. It will be rather a shock to some seedlings I've had to put out as I've run out of space inside but with any luck the little plastic pop-up growhouse will give enough protection - it's up against a shed and has slabs underneath which have been soaking up the sun.
