Up here, the wind is really strengthening, skies grey............Hmm........well...

Later: 8.35 p.m.: well, now, it's a roaring, chill south-easterly taking no prisoners. Just done my exercise walk in it. Phew`
    10.36: it's a gale.

We outsourced the fires to Australia, like the locusts to Africa, and there were some floods here...

Powerful gusts started somewhat out of the blue about 40 minutes ago.

There were thunderstorms to the north of London early this afternoon, which then moved north affecting Cambridge around teatime, and also Birmingham. Don't know if you were affected. Here it remained dry, very warm at 74 degs, and almost windless. I flung all my windows open to get the flat nice and warm, in preparation for tomorrow and Tuesday's turn to cold north-easterlies.

What a difference a day makes! Temperature right down - the only reason my thermometer is as high as 9 degrees is because the woodstore is keeping the strong NE wind off. There was a very brief spell of rain during the night but because of the wind there is little sign of it this morning, and there will be parts of the garden where it won't have reached at all, again due to the wind. The sun has given up the struggle and retreated behind the uniform cloud cover.
We've got cold and windy so the only thing missing to make the typical Bank Holiday is the rain...but that ain't gonna happen. Ironic, as it wouldn't matter this BH if it pelted down.

I hope for your sake that was 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lovely morning here but more breezy and a little cooler - still appears to be pollen around!

Yes it was, actually. I was probably reverting to early childhood - should of course have written 24 degrees (celsius)!
