Maybe a host should not be posting this. But given the bad weather we're having, I thought it might be a light relief:

A great giggle, thanks for posting it.

A night of frightening and serious wind intensity up here.

Sorry to hear that Draco. It was a relatively quiet night here with wind peaks under 40 mph, and dry. This morning is bright and breezy and would be mild if not for the wind.

And now, nasty, nasty stuff up here - darkest grey, driving wind and sleet/rain.
          BUT
have friends in Wales, and we are as nothing compared to what is coming down there.

We're just about to be hit by an almighty downpour here - and this is before the main band of heavy rain destined to hit the SE around the evening rush hour [sic]. Here it comes, hailstones, the lot - whooooosh!!!

Something must have moved quicker than expected, as when I checked the forecast this morning rain wasn't on the horizon until the evening, and now it's chucking it down and the local map shows a big blue blob over my location. There's a bigger offering waiting in the western wings but given the direction of the wind that may not be as bad as it looks for here - can't be bothered to find a wider area map as I don't need to go out. The morning was bright and breezy, and much useful and pleasurable gardening was done, and the forecast suggests that tomorrow morning should be good for the volunteer gardening also.

Well, up here it is BITTERLY cold, driving westerly, billows of cutting sleet and rain mixed.
Temp forecast was 8C - well, just looked as I came in from work, and it's 3C and dropping. - i.e way off what BBC forecast last night,

But you (and we!) know you don't trust the BBC weather forecast, Draco!

Indeed. Wonder where they get their info? Surely they MUST know how inaccurate they can be?

That's why the govt is about to spend £1b on a superior new computer at the Met Office!

But didn't the BBC try to save money by ditching the Met Office?

I believe Meteogroup still rely in part on Met Office data, so any improvements achieved with the latter's super-duper new system will hopefully be reflected at least to some extent in the former's forecasts.
