Rather a grey start, but the cloud cover was high and not too thick, and has gradually cleared through the morning. The sun appeared late morning together with some pale blue patches, and it's mild - gardening was a pleasure. Apparently it will go downhill through the afternoon, and certainly the weather map shows a bank of wetness like a curtain to the west.

I was thinking of chancing it with a ride on the bike, but drizzle has already arrived, ahead of the main rain band, which is expected to hit here after teatime. So, it has to be a walk instead, with brolly at the ready.

Sun now disappearing behind thickening altostratus, with increasing clag below as lower levels become saturated once more. 10 degrees Celsius - 3 or 4 degrees up on the past week or so, so, with the moderate breeze, quite comfortable, really

Going east at a good pace, so the wettest part seems to be over for now.

Looks like a stormy day with hail showers on its way to brighten up tomorrow!

Snow on the tops, but now blowing in hard at lower level as I write.

A bright, brisk, blow the cobwebs away, day. Good to see sun but will need to wrap up well to stop the wind doing my neck a mischief. The forecast suggests that the windchill will take things down to below freezing. It's not due to the brutal easterly airflows that I well remember from decades ago, when water would start to freeze in mid air before it hit the ground, so not something to worry about.

Exactly the same here. Just been on a really good brisk walk and it's been the first day since retirement just before Christmas that I've actually felt like I wanted to do so as opposed to forcing myself.

Sunshine, heavy drizzle, snowfall, sunshine, drizzle - it's been a mixed bag so far today in this bit of the Pennines. The one constant has been the bitterly cold air - the cobwebs didn't stand a chance.

Truly nasty up here now. Sharp, VERY cold wind, driving mix of snow, sleet and rain. 2C

Sorry to hear this. Perhaps come down this way today, as although we have the sun, it’s a bit nippy, which I don’t mind.

Well, sorry, dear northern friends, but it's bright with lots of sunshine and a brisk coldish drying wind here - temperature 5 C. So, gloves and wooly hat on; and I shall have to watch out when I reach the very exposed top of the steep descent to Croydon, where I've experienced nearly being blown off my bike in the past!
