Ghastly day yesterday. Cleared up later though, for me to go out. Today more rain. As soon as we have milder weather comes, down comes the rain!

Ah! t'Other way round in this bit of the Pennines yesterday - sunshine in the morning, becoming drizzly later in the afternoon.

Today looks set to be light grey throughout the (very short) daylight hours, but mild temperatures of around 6 degrees - same for the Solstice tomorrow. And then, l praise be, we gradually start getting our light back.

It's endless rain here! There has hardly been a dry day for several weeks now and more heavy rain is forecast for today. The lights need to be on for most of the day as there's no sunshine here!

Blimey! The reaction to thge news of your retirement was a bit more extreme than I'd expected!

When I had my company wind down days from October (working a four day week in Oct, three days in Nov then two days in Dec), we had heavy rain on all but one of the days I was off. Now I'm off permanently the trend is continuing which is a bit of a worry!

The weather map for this neck of the woods now matches the political map, so I am doubly dispirited!

I thought BJ threw out all the "wets"?

Plenty of big puffy cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds around this afternoon - quite an unusual sight in December with cloud bases lower in winter than in summer, and lots of clag obstructing any view, so one does not tend to see storm clouds inland so clearly profiled until around March time. And so, the umbrella accompanies me on my afternoon 3 mile stroll today. Here we go!

Constant rain thus far today. Milder though.

Distant thunder to the SW this morning as I pedalled my way home through deep puddles everywhere - and this on top of the neighbouring hill! Shower clouds still coming in from the SW: I'm wondering if they've got the tracking of this low forecast to trundle up the Channel this afternoon right, because normally an advance sheet of associated high and medium-level cloud would be spreading across, suppressing all ground-up convection; but that just ain't happening.

An unpromising start has done as forecast and cleared to a beautiful blue vault and sunshine. The washing has gone out for a couple of hours, fingers crossed that won't jinx the temporary dry spell.

Filthy wet and temp dropping up here.

More like an October day than the middle of December here, with temperature still 10C when I went out for a 3-mile stroll as the sun was going down. It looks as if the cold front which produced a number of thunderstorms over Wales and parts of the SW this morning is going to pass without any remaining weather on it, following which I expect skies and murky visibility to clear, possibly a slight frost, and a lovely sunny day tomorrow, which should be nice for a post-Xmas lunch cycle ride before it gets dark.
