Don't know if now being a party member and actually campaigning a bit this time round would have disqualified me?
There is remuneration involved and it's something that council staff have traditionally volunteered to do - when I worked at the local library after leaving school a couple of the staff were regulars in the polling stations. As existing council employees I think they avoided the formalities.
Yes I think your campaign activities would have precluded polling station work.

What an awful day yesterday was! Cleared up by evening.

Oh Beautiful Islands of Scilly - Stormy weather - at least it’s a reminder that they are there - and as a St Ives constituent I will probably be the last on the forum to find out who will be my MP.

          Not too bad today, thankfully.

Dusting of snow on the real tops. Cutting wind, some sun, plenty of cloud scudding. Oh, yes, and, seriously COLD.

Now, just in from a short walk on the fellside, at 3.30-ish, billows of sleet being driven by a fierce NWesterly.

And this [Sunday] a.m., snow as far as the eye can see, and a chilly blue sky looking a bit shocked at the change.

A mixed bag today. Seems to be brightening up now.

Turned into a lovely sunny midwinter day here. Moderate breeze, lovely sunshine, and no rain since last night.
Just right for a lovely quiet run this morning, with beautiful views of the Wiltshire countryside, and not a politician in sight.

Lightning and thunder were reported in SW London around ten last night. I didn't see or hear either, but I slotted them into my weather diary, as they would have been noticeable from here if they were from Twickenham. It certainly belted down. As looks likely to happen again tonight, after what has been an other largely sunny day, and quite springlike at midday.

I've decided this will be the final month of my keeping the diary, after many years, with a few gaps when life's demands prevented the time. Chronicalling climate change is getting just too depressing, almost as if one were at best complicit by sitting and observing, regardless of one's attempts to mitigate elsewhere.

Wall to wall sunshine here today with a rather strong wind making things feel cold - good for laundry drying though.
Yesterday was bitterly cold, but thankfully the threatened frost didn't happen. Coping with iced up car and possibly icy roads in the dark after rehearsal and full Messiah performance would have pushed me to the limit. As it was, the strong wind and heavy showers were quite enough, coupled with my problems adjusting to oncoming headlights!

First snow of the Winter in this bit of the Pennines - started very lightly yesterday morning, and then more overnight. A light coating on the hills nearby this morning - and cold enough throughout the day to prevent it from melting.

Hope won’t be too bad Ferney!

Raining down here at the moment.

Cold, calm, semi-cloudy but bright and dry!

Boring sort of a day - not wet, not sunny, not warm or particularly cold.

Trapped under a sheet of cloud, the back-spread from the cold front which went through here just before midnight, bringing a couple of distant flashes of lightning, and heavy rain and hail accompanied by gale-force gusts before everything suddenly went quiet once more. Almost a repeat of Saturday night's weather! Some places in Wales and the SW are reporting more thunder this month than they've had for the entire year! The question on people's lips is, will it thunder on Christmas Day this year?

It was very picturesque yesterday, thanks, Bbm - very pleasant, viewed from the warm Living Room window!

Today very sunny - and very chilly: probably warmer (at 5 degrees C) than an average mid-December temperature, though?
