I can't see it helping in terms of numbers voting so not likely to be good news for those of us wanting some form of change. Ah well, sufficient unto the day and all that.

Sparrows near us have been very noisy recently. I assumed this was usual.

Perhaps will get a pre Christmas miracle tomorrow

Certainly turned out rather showery yesterday. Hope it won’t be too bad today.

Pouring with rain just now, but not too cold. Had to rush out in my slippers when the bin men arrived earlier than usual...will wrap up well to slosh my way to the polling station.

Feels a bit as if we are underwater already.

Very light drizzle here. The 10 minutes walk down to, and then back from, the Polling Station only resulting in slight damping of my outer clothing. Did my bit to reduce the majority of the replacement for the previous MP who jumped ship and is standing now standing for the Lib Dems in a neighbouring constituency.

Where do they get the staffers for the polling stations? Not volunteers, surely? - I presume they must be local authority employees. Today we were blessed with three wonderful black ladies of the sunniest of dispositions, in their forties, I would say: they lightened up the gauntness of that place, located just inside the entrance to one of the neighbouring 1940s council house blocks. I was told turnout had been high, despite the weather. From the looks of it, I don't think we're going to see much sunshine today.

... weather miserable here. At the polling station in Loftus Road this morning at 8:30 there was, unusually, quite a queue - so I think the turnout here shd be high too.

Well, the weather up here is HORRIBLE - driving rain, searching easterly, and COLD.
Couldn't have chosen a better day to mobilise millions to decode the union's fate................ahem.

Grim weather for a grim day. I'm glad I manged to get out reasonably early. About 11-30 the rain started to make itself known and since then it has been getting steadily windier and wetter. There was quite a heavy frost last night - when I looked out the window about 5 am I thought at first, in my less than awake state, that it had snowed, as the moon illuminated the white crust on shed roofs. It was quite quick to clear fortunately, although that of course was the reason for the wet.
Talking of the moon, portents are not good some would say, with a full moon tonight and Friday 13th tomorrow.
For now I'm just grateful to have a warm house to hunker down in and lights to banish the exterior gloom - the gloom in my head is a bit more difficult.

... can we begin to decide the union's fate if we can't decode it? At supper the other evening (wine had been taken) the lot of us, centre lefties all, could neither decode where we were nor decide where we wanted to go, given the paltry choices on offer.

Rain here EVEN heavier! Streets virtually deserted. Pity the school gate mafia's trek to collect today!

Still waiting for the rain to stop so I can go and spoil my ballot paper

Councils certainly ask their staff to volunteer to man (person?) polling stations and to do the count, but it could I guess go much wider. I always thought I might do one or other but never got 'a round tuit' before retiring

They are to that extent volunteers but they do I believe get paid something for their trouble

Don't know if now being a party member and actually campaigning a bit this time round would have disqualified me?
