That said, it all looks pretty grim for all of us, with one doubled back frontal system crossing us today and keeping the wet weather going, and another expected on Friday and Saturday, to be followed with more strong winds, with a deep primary low slowly crossing Scotland, lasting over the whole weekend right across the country. We have to wait until at least Tuesday of next week before it settles down with the jet stream moving back north to where it should be located in August.

Very odd.
The BBC weather page has six photographs of local weather scenes sent in by viewers. Click on any one and it comes on screen on its own. Then, a couple of weeks ago, a large pop-up informed me that in order to access any of the pictures I had to click in my BBC identity: this despite being able to access all the other weather pages without need to. So today I attempted to click Enter beneath the row of asterisks presumably marking my BBC ID, since the above space correctly shows my email address, and a red worded notice immediately popped up to say that my details were incorrect, and that in order to log into that part of the site, I would need to re-submit the original email that registered my into the BBC. I don't ever remember registering any such thing, but, assuming I must at some stage have done - how otherwise would they have the abovementioned details? - it would have gone the way of the majority of my old emails, ie been deleted.
This is all apiece with demands that nowadays come from all manner of organisations that expect one to somehow automatically know which information one has to hang onto forever like gold dust - lost/forgotten passwords, etc etc.

... our weekend trip to Derbyshire was, as predicted, pretty rainy and windy. We had a good log fire in the converted barn where we were staying.
It was good to walk about in the park underneath the dam at Whaley Bridge - seeing the kiddywinkies innocently enjoying themselves in the playground immediately underneath the dam, an ideal opening scene from a disaster movie - one could almost hear the theme tune alla 'Jaws' ...
Back in London - and it's cold and pouring. The central heating has kicked in.

The rain arrived at lunchtime as forecast and has been of the useful kind. What isn't so useful is the significant drop in temperature - I am concerned about the possibility of blight on the tomatoes. It would be typical as they are now beginning to ripen a decent crop, but that's always the chance one takes with outdoor growing, and I have had quite few to eat already.
Thursday should be dry and warmer so perhaps I should seize the chance for a long overdue visit to the city to stock up on coffee, catch a couple of exhibitions and enjoy a wander.

Beautiful for a morning ride today - managed to get home without even breaking a sweat! Need to catch up on the rose dead-heading, with 2 days catching up to do: it's back to square 1 again tomorrow: wind and rain, and more windy conditons for the weekend - a repeat of last weekend. Never mind: after Monday it should improve, with temperatures back to just above normal by the second half of the week down here, and around normal for the rest of the UK. The great news for me is that I've succeeded in losing half the weight I put on last winter, which means I'm on schedule for being back to where I feel I should be (11 and a half stone) by the end of September!

But congratulations on getting to the weight you want to be.
