No sun but no rain and little breeze, forecast not good though.

Wild, wild northerly up here, lots of rain overnight. Braced for worst.
Walked fells yesterday in full winter gear.
      Midsummer's Day a week away..........erm....?

Slightly O/T in that it relates to climate, rather than weather, but how about charging 4 times the VAT rate applied to Coal when it comes to Solar, energy storage and bioenergy? Seems a great way of dealing with climate change, no? Well, if no, then you might want to put your name to this: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitio...June%20edition .

I don't think it can reasonably be called a party-political issue, as such.

It is - a lot of this is as a result of climate change. And we can change that change if we work as a community of interested parties.

In the current scheme of things today hasn't been too bad. This morning was without rain, not too windy, but still cold. At lunchtime the rain started again as per forecast, but pretty half-hearted, and the temperature lifted slightly - an increase from just into double figures(much of yesterday and this morning) to about 15. Sadly it's now downhill apparently for most of the next 24 hours.

Steady light to moderate rain has now been falling for about 3 hours here, and it will be interesting to see who is right. The BBC forecast predicts thunderstorms from about teatime to rush hour time, clearing to the NW by 9 pm, and a yellow warning for the whole SE - I think they actually meant thundery rain ather than proper clear-cut storms, but never mind - while Tony, on UKweatherworld, who is seldom wrong and usually pinpoint accurate, claims that the current thundery conditions along the south coast will die out instead of moving this way.

On lightningmaps I'm now seeing small clusters of frequent lightning around the "base" of the Cherbourg peninsula and Paris, and a line down the centre of Germany, roughly where the old Irron Curtain used to be, once more getting absolutely clobbered by lightning and, presumably, huge rainfalls from that "stuck" cold front.

Are you sure Shelley’s a boy, Jane? Torties are usually females, aren’t they? Although exceptionally they can be male, I’ve heard. Let’s hope he gets on well with Mizzy, anyway. George is not allowed in the greenhouse because his catnip is germinating. 2 varieties this year: Nepeta Cataria, with the white flowers not the blue, and lemon scented Nepeta Citriodora. Tried to get him interested in Matatabi sticks, (dried wooden sticks from the East Asian silver vine plant that are supposed to be good for cats’ teeth when they chew them). George curious but not terribly impressed. A bit foreign for him.

Two more days of this, and then it should start to warm up and dry up.

Tony on UKweatherworld was right about no thunder coming this way yesterday. He always is!

Well, it is COLD, no - very cold, wet and N/NE windy giving it a real go.
                      It is simply horrible.

Heating just put on again: the house was cooler than the temperature we keep it at in winter!

EXACTLY the same thing happened here - heating system came on automatically despite it pretty conservative 'summer' schedule. Outside temp here in appalling conditions with serious wind chill and rain is at the mo 7C.

No longer taking seriously the BBC weather - hopelessly optimistic.

No heating on here in East Berkshire. 18.5°C in the first floor rooms. Overcast but no current rain outside.

Less rain and more breaks between showers today, also feeling just a tad less cold. The sky is still completely overcast but the cloud is much higher and the light levels higher which, failing actual sun, is a move in the right direction; I've only needed some task lighting rather than having to have the room lights on all day.

We were up in Glen Tilt by Blair Atholl today and all expected to get rained on most of the day as the weather last night forecast. In the end we had a most pleasant day, hazy sunshine, lots of curlews and skylarks, plover chicks and baby deer, wonderful vistas, and disbelief that we all came back home dry as a bone.
