It didn’t after all - rain that is, but we could do with a drop!

Some useful rain did arrive in two short sessions. It's freshened things up but the wind has been doing a good job of removing the moisture unfortunately so benefit to the plants will be short-lived.

The forecast for today is not as good as was suggested yesterday, which is unfortunate as we have an event day at work. The distribution does appear to be somewhat patchy so fingers crossed we don't get too much if it does happen.

Likewise dawn south, I don’t think it will be as good as. Our cat came in during the night soaking wet!

Probably from that line of showers that produced 5 minutes of really heavy rain here, and a single flash of lightning out Shoeburyness way, apparently. I was pointing out the green sky that appeared below the rain curtain to an American who loves two flats along from mine, and he said, "I really love the little weather systems you have in this country"! Reminded me of the GI in the train as it passed through the Severn Tunnel: "Hey, is this a mountain we're going under??" - to which my father replied, "No, just one of our streams"!

Well, for literally 48 hrs up here, we have had that typically drenching finest of fine Cumbrian rains that soaks everything in minutes, made nicely more soaking by a sneaping little NW wind. The fells are totally invisible in the thickness of rain and cloud.
                    Hmm.
I see from TV coverage of World Cricket Cup, it's a wonderfully fine day in London.

Looks like a totally other country.

Erm..................correction: same fine rain, now driving westerly, fells still invisible, truly yuk.
And I#ve just heard a really cheerful weather forecast on BBC for NW England - 'it'll be all right tomorrow' stuff - - I mean, crikey, Mr Betts, you ought to be HERE!!

.......and this same weather has continued today, Friday.
Total cloud / fine, drenching rain / mist / wind lock-down. Fells white-out.
                      Utterly miserable.

Here, in South Lakes, STILL raining, busy wind, yukky, fells invisible, spotting paths etc ahead for literally THREE days tricky to impossible so genuinely dangerous and taxing for walkers, YET still the BBC forecasts bleat on about 'clearing' and 'brighter periods' blah blah blah

Do these guys EVER get out of their offices, or take note of local reactions?

And this has been half-term holiday week and this area is a huge for walkers etc.
Interestingly, the Lake District locals are telling walkers to be VERY careful based on their own assessments.

Lovely here after a dull but mild day. Must be up near 20, bright and sunny, warm enough to warm a well deserved glass of plonk too quickly.
Been repairing some blown rendering on the garden and drive walls, hoping it doesn’t dry out too quickly. Such fun .......

15-mile round cycle trip, with excellent snack lunch at the little eatery in Ladywell Park, sitting in the shade. Well actually there wasn't all that much sunshine until I got home! Temperatures only maxed at 20 degrees, much lower than was forecast for the London area, and I'm wondering if the Met Office has over-estimated tomorrow's.
