And a good history - all the garden flowers must have been weeds at some point until they were deemed worthy of the garden.

        Absolutely glorious day here.
Early bicycle ride to station to buy tickets for a forthcoming trip (and save the online booking fee); minster glorious in early morning sunshine against a bright blue cloudless day.
Too hot to sit out front later, but cooler now out of the sun.
A couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio down, Times crossword completed (but with cheating: had never heard of nailset!); and a smoked salmon salad awaits.

All very nice here too. Warm and sunny, but just a slight coolness in that wind.

Online booking fee ? I use National Rail Enquiries, which is fee free I think, although TBF I seldom book online.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Good morning people! A sunny day down here again. A bit nippy at the moment but I’m sure it will warm up.

Yesterday evening a good friende of mine sat beside me in Burgess Park, watching the sun going down and throwing iridescent mother-of-pearl colours into surrounding whispy clouds. Today the sky is a deep blue, totally devoid of cloud of any kind; and the temperature is appraching the 15 C it reached yesterday, though with a fresher breeze coming in off of the Thames Estuary making it feel cooler, and my cycle ride home up the long ascent from Sydenham less sweaty, in consequence!

The check-out lady in the big Sainsbury's said "Didin't I just see you in the dressing room area?" I had been trying on a pair of jeans. "Funny you should say that", I replied, "there was a lady in the dressing room area who looked just like you!"

But maybe she thought you worthy of being noticed!

Another fine day today. We have a fun fair in town later on this week, and it nearly always rains at the time. Which I think it probably will!

Glorious sunny days so far this week but my goodness the wind has been chilly, with large temperature contrasts depending on whether one was in shade or sun. Yesterday mid to late afternoon was the most marked with 30+ showing on the thermometer by the back door as a peak, but just about getting to 15 at the bottom of the garden, where exposure to the Easterly breeze meant long sleeves to get the weeding and pruning done. Once the sun had gone behind the houses the temperature quickly dropped much further. Very dry thanks to the wind, change is on the way they say - but looks as if it might be very hit and miss, and even chillier with it. Trying to harden the tomato plants off is proving even more tiresome and time consuming than usual; they don't like the extremes of temperature added to which the wind scorches the leaves which is more of a problem in small plants which don't have that many to begin with!

We certainly are being spoilt by the weather down here too, albeit rather blustery and a nip in the air,in the morning but seems to warm up later. Hopefully for similar today!

Rather a dull and gloomy day, today. Is it, or isn’t it going to rain?

Sun/cloud OK, BUT real hard edge in easterly takes one by surprise.

Oh the irony. We really need rain here but at the moment I'm hoping it won't happen until this evening as I've had to connect the car to a battery charger and it has to be done en plein air. The strong wind means that trying to put a tarpaulin over is a non-starter(like the car!) Not being able to shut the front door fully because of the extension lead isn't ideal in this weather either.

It's amazing what purposes car batteries are being put these days. Twice recently I've seen one particular car battery linked up via a cable passing over an adjacent garden wall to a pump operating a sprinkler! I wonder how much of a saving this amounts to in terms of domestic electricity provision.

Very dull and dark here, quite cool too, but no rain to speak of, and little in the way of wind down this way. Tomorrow and Sunday showers are expected to break out almost anywhere, in that infuriatingly random way than can happen in slack low pressure systems in summer, making forward planning over what to wear or carry when out almost impossible.
