At 8am it was bright and sunny and looked like a good day to get to the allotment. Two hours later rain, high winds and cold. Pah!
      Best regards,
      Jonathan

Quite a selection of weather here today, currently the main concern is wind speed(weather warnings in place). The only good thing is that it is during the day so if the two vulnerable fence panels decide to succumb I'll be able to deal with damage. The forecast reckons it should quieten down significantly by the end of the day - ready for snow warnings for tomorrow...Not the best start to the new season at work, not least because it takes the building several days to respond in any noticeable fashion to the heating being back on.

A massive thunderstorm system, even bigger than the one that hit the news last week, is currently crossing the States. It wouldnt surprise me at all were we to hear of more tornado disasters. Renders the few twigs and small branches down and my having had to dismount this morning to avoid being blown off my bike somewhat puny by comparison.

            Keep safe!

It’s rather windy here today but still sunny with clouds.

Snowing here in this bit of the Pennines - and not the "sleet" that had been forecast, but proper, big flakes of the stuff.

I was foolish enough to walk the dog with my heavy jacket unbuttoned and at one point I nearly took off like the Flying Dutchman and got whirled skywards...but in actual fact was just stopped in my tracks anchored by large labradoodle.

Very dramatic. Did manage to post a couple of letters.

Did you just throw the letters in the air and let them post themselves
                        ?

Snow here first thing, now disppeared, but very, very windy indeed. It looks like being a wet and windy week.

....I feel no need to express an opinion on the weather today having already given it to several dog walkers....factually it (1030hrs) wet, windy but not overly windy....and cold....

Yep. This so-called "zonal", Atlantic-borne weather, once the norm, now gives us these really wound-up low pressure systems due to the greater temperature and therefore moisture contrasts between the heating up tropical midriff and the polar regions top and bottom, rather than the old pattern we were used to of Day 1: rain; Day 2: showers; Day 3 sunny; and then the pattern repeating, with the occasional high pressure blocking situation giving short-duratioon cold spells in winter and heatwaves in summer.

Real gale-force gusts here - we've had to rescue the wheelie bins (plus contents!) 3 times already today

Lightning and thunder, immediately followed by huge gusts of wind and hailstones, and then a mixture of rain and snow. So hard to believe - I'd only been out for a walk half an hour earlier, when the temperature had been 8 degrees celsius; now it was just 1 degree C! Part of the large sycamore next door has been split off and is now semi-blocking the street.
