Lovely here today. Still a bit of a chill though. 14C max.

Beautiful sunny, breezy morning here. I managed to vote, exercise the dog, swim, pick up post at the office and have lunch overlooking the Water near the Town Quay.

The nice Tory supporting lady from up the road coincided with me at the polling station. "You and I'll probably cancel each other out", she remarked; "Mutually assured destruction", I replied.

Everything looks set for a lovely weekend, warm but not too warm, sunshine provided courtesy Walter Wall.

Thank's for reminding me! Now who supports funding of classical music? Doing something about: litter? Parking on pavements? Flood defences? The major parties have certainly done nothing on these in my locality, they haven't the time, with all that green space to sell off to their developer chums. But looking at that list, I think the Green guy might be getting my vote... 3 out of are 4 likely to be his thing, and he might support folk music at least.

I once tried hard to be M.P. but failed to get elected
Upon a tub I stood, round which a thousand folks collected
And I had dodged the eggs and bricks (which was no easy task)
When one man cried, "A question I the candidate would ask!"

"Where did you get that hat? Where did you get that tile?
Isn't it a nobby one, and just the proper style?
I should like to have one Just the same as that!"
Where'er I go, they shout "Hello! Where did you get that hat?"

There used to be a Speakers Corner on the Downs in Bristol every Sunday afternoon in the summer, back in the 1970s. Normally three "platforms" would be assembled: first, two men from the Socialist Party of Great Britain, whose speakers were mostly reformed alcoholics, would set up on a tall step ladder, displaying a Victorian-style banner stating that the party was the one-true Socialist party, established in 1908, I think, and they would take it in turns outlining the party's policy, which was the immediate abolition of wage labour through an elected parliamentary majority, The second speaker was a bible-thumper called Felix, also an ex-alchie, who proclaimed that the promised land would only come with death; and the third a representative of the Communist Party of Great Britain called Brian - a large man and a docker, who had a nice line in humour, championing Women's Liberation in terms such as "Cor, some of these women's libbers are a bit of all right, I'm telling you!" When he succeeded in out-shouting the SPGB man on the ladder, using a megaphone, the latter would fold up and come over to heckle from the back that the CPGB weren't true Communists since they had imposed a dictatorship in Russia - to which Brian would reply by threatening, "If you don't shut up, I'll come and live next door to you!" Young supporters of the SWP, or International Socialists, as they then still were, would shout "Stalinist!" and Brian would call them middle class wankers and tell them they'd never met a working class man in their lives. It was a very entertaining way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Been a lovely sunny day, although the breeze a tad chilly at times. Hoping it stays dry tomorrow as forecast, as the lawn is in need of cutting down to size.

Or less given the lumpy bumpy nature of the sward - it can't really be called a lawn except from a distance!
A lovely sunny morning and slight breeze to dry the dew off enough for the mower to manage, so orft I go to see how many scalps I achieve.

Lovely again this morning: gentle breeze and no need for a coat.

We had TUSC and Greens standing in our ward, but they haven’t an earthly.
