Well, smugly, I have to report that up here, we have had successive and wonderful early summer days, not a drop of rain, plenty of sun and light breezes.
But of course, I do understand it will come as a bit of a shock to those south of the Watford Gap that there is weather in the wilds beyond, and yet is still in 'England'.

Indeed, down here too. A pity tomorrow is not going to be.

BUT around 3-ish last night, there was a serious snap of frost. Luckily I'd fleeced me fuchsias when the moon was full.

Always worth doing a bit of fuchsia-proofing.

Better than fleecing little old ladies I suppose.

Monday's forecast doom and destruction wasn't as bad as forecast thankfully here in the driest part of the country(hah), just cold, wet and windy. It was good to have proof today that the sun still exists, shame that it, and the dry, won't hold out for my volunteer gardening stint tomorrow.

What form does your volunteer gardening take?

                    It sounds quite good.

Generally, there may have been a bit of sunshine here but having just returned by bus from Tescos I can confirm that everyone in the paid service industries is as miserable as sin.

In general I find that older people( people of my age that is) in service industries ( and way too often on the Railways) tend to be a lot more miserable, and much less customer orientated, than younger people.
Of course they may have been doing boring underpaid jobs for much longer, so the miserableness just sets in over time.

But in any case I find that younger people tend to “ get” customer service very well these days, much to their credit when things like “graduate level “jobs, and buying a home are so much less accessible than they were for their parents generation.

Anyway, back on topic, bright but cool both here and in Gloucestershire today.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Perhaps - 3 were older, 2 female, 1 male, and 1 was younger, female. White 3. BAME 1.

It's keeping the garden areas around my place of work looking reasonable for the visitors. Unlike an equivalent National Trust site we don't have any paid garden staff to provide management and continuity and the team only comes in one morning a week so it can be quite a challenge, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate. Sadly tomorrow looks like a non-gardening day - drizzle or showers we can cope with, heavy prolonged downpours no, as it's all outside, no glasshouses to retreat to!

The moon was an astonishing sight earlier; a Double Gloucester cheese so low in the sky it looked like an extra street light gleaming through the trees, and I did wonder at first if it was some madcap balloonist about to take off or ditch over the football pitch. It's now more of a Cheshire cheese colour and in the sky rather than rolling along the horizon.

                            Very nice.

There's a lot of Gloucestershire around these parts this week.

Teamsaint has been to Gloucestershire, you have seen a moon like a Double Gloucester cheese and I have been posting about Gloucester Cathedral.

...and the Duke was a fine locomotive!

It was my home county. Fortunately the moon only looked like the eponymous cheese rather than attempting the infamous Coopers Hill cheese rolling.
