Thats what this forum is all about.

          Epic storm Right here,right now.

Caliban will doubtless be all over it, tracking wise.

Over to the experts ...... observations S-A ?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Oop 'ere, sullen, still, grey and orange horizons. A world waiting.

Still waiting for it to arrive - been watching the lightning map, but the nearest sferic has been down near Haslemere, and I'm not sure if the whole system will maintain enough energy to get this far. Nice cloud displays earlier, though, straight out of Dali!

Ooh I just love this kind of weather! Shame everything's going to go back to normal on Monday.
Bad hay fever again today. Despite the rain last night. 17C, supposed to be today?

A lot warmer here - 22 C before the cloud spread in around teatime. I was correct about last night's storm, which passed through here as half an hour of heavy rain without any thunder. Teamsaint's "epic" description of events down his way almost don't do it justice, to go by this report: check through the photographs of lightning strikes and hailstones on a car, then click on the video beneath, and you'll get some idea. People reporting say that in all their years of observing, they've never seen anything like it in April before.

Slept through the worst of it, but have doubts about my plums later on...blossom ended up in the mud.

Half marathon turned our usual walk into a bicycle park but managed to connect with my friend the night nurse/ dog walker and the creatures had their usual romp.

Peaceful just now and still quite warm but the football may impact.

This weather would have been great for the summer but it's too weird and extreme-y for this time of the year and most of the time I can't keep awake during the day.

It's borderline narcolepsy although at night time I can be wide awake.

According to Gardeners' World the daffodils at Hever Castle were tremendous even where their roots were in water. Here - not exactly a million miles away - I have never known such a poor daffodil season. Perhaps half a dozen showed but nothing else and all I'm left with is a mass of boring green leaf. The hyacinths only performed in tubs. The tulips in the last four to five days have moved up from about 2% performance to 33% which I suppose is something. But its all awry. I keep looking at the blossom in the neighbourhood and thinking that it is astonishingly early, then I have to remind myself that it has actually arrived near the normal time. Have no idea about the prospects for the bluebells and the rhododendrons/azaleas.

You'll be pleased to know - but probably not - that the Hyacinthoides hispanica are flourishing.

                          And the ponticum no doubt.

Along with the dandelions and the daisies.

In a fortnight's time, I might try Staffhurst rather than Banstead.

It's usually my second choice but its historical army connections might mean there is enough in the ground to destroy imposters.

Apparently we did have some thunder, and rain. I slept through it!

Best to get anything you need doing outdoors done before Friday between the showers, if poss because, with the exception of Scotland, with a deepening low coming in from the SW, it looks likely to be a wet one.
