It doesn’t get any better than a ride down Southampton water on a sunny morning. Pity the IOW ferries are so expensive .
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

        Hot diggetty.

As for IOW ferries, the one I use is Lymington - Yarmouth which was reasonable when I last looked.

Thanks greenilex! Unfortunately, had to cancel due to me not being all that well today. On anteb's.

Live yoghurt is the thing, then, to replace digestive flora.

We are gradually seeing the odd brief spell of sunshine. Still chilly.

Rain tonight and tomorrow morning down here, I would think. But for now it actually feels quite like spring, and comfortable enough to go out without coat.

                      I won't get my coat!

Only just started taking a look at this thread. We moved last year from sunny Herefordshire to darkest, dankest, wettest, coldest Northumberland. Worst decision of our life. On the bright side the people are fabulous and the scenery breathtaking. But according to locals, last year was the wettest for a very long time and so far this year has been the coldest. We really did not do our homework. The saddest thing is that my wife is a keen gardener and had one of the most spectacular collections of rare peonies and irises. A collection that, TBH, put the National Collection to shame. Most have rotted and many irreplaceable and she is bereft.

However, every cloud has a silver lining and I take great pleasure in telling Yorkshiremen that they are nothing but softie Southerners.

Blue sky today though. Is that spring or have we just had summer ?

Well at least you have blue sky today - which is more than we do!

... I have pondered before on these threads as to why early Homo sapiens, as they moved out of Africa, once they reached, say, the Dordogne (plenty of caves, loads of nuts and berries, not too many French people around yet... ) - ever bothered to advance further north. Certainly by the time they reached the Chilterns they must have thought, what's the point of pushing on further? And yet some went on to the god-forsaken zones north of the river Aire - and, now we learn - even up to Northumberland!

Really, there are times when I doubt the sanity of my fellow humans...

"L'enfer c'est les autres" was presumably the governing principle, long before J-PS put it into words - finding places with no other buggers anywhere close...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
