We're right now in the middle of a deep depression. How appropriate!

That low which crossed the south yesterday is dragging its heels a bit, owing to high pressure blocking progress to its east; hence delay on Draco's sunshine waiting out in the wings to the north-west. So it looks likely that tomorrow is going to be another cold 'un, calm col air sandwiched between that low and a new one bringing wind and rain approaching from the west. That fresh Atlantic air heralds a major change to mild, albeit still damp conditions with passing frontal rain systems, from tomorrow on, borne on south-westerlies of sub-tropical origin.

It was lovely to see the sun today but my goodness it does make driving visibility difficult, being so low at this time of year, especially after midday.

Yes indeed - I've now actually stopped cycling during sunny afternoons, as it has become more dangerous facing into the low sun, and the bike less controllable with one hand held up to banket out the glare.

And you are at the mercy of cars driven by people who also can't see where they are going or what they are driving into...

I suspect most places have had rain, with or without wind. The rain eased off finally at about 2-30 here(giving a glimpse of the sun and a pretty bit of evening sky to make a backdrop for leafless tree silhouettes), but the wind is now increasing instead - forecast of gusts in the high 40s overnight. With the ground so sodden there will be trees at risk of toppling I fear.

Check on the bottom left hand picture, showing a spectacular rainbow spanning the Thames down
stream from Battersea as low angle sunshine caught the post-frontal drizzle. For some reason one can lo longer link to the individual pictures.

                      This one?

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Still plenty of wind as the windmills are pretty close to maximum power output - what however is interesting is that the frequency of the power is right down on its low limit - this is usually a sign that the network is struggling to provide power - maybe a few of the gas turbines are being brought up to speed

After a dry(ish) start rain is moving in. Not good news for me as I'm being picked up after lunch for a rehearsal and concert, but not from my house, so am wondering if I'm going to be sitting in partially soggy clothes for several hours. The church isn't a cold one(on the church scale - it has heating) but by the same token it isn't at domestic temperatures. I got soaked on Thursday as well but that was only a rehearsal so a shorter time of discomfort. On the plus side it is fairly mild today, and it's 'only' the bits not covered by a waterproof that will get wet...
