    Centurian tank tops?

Start of what promises to be a pretty wet week this morning, as I essayed out for a quick bike sortie before it got going. Now steady rain - washing rescued just in time from the line now draped over various doors. Nearest signs of any improvement come Friday week - a long time to wait.

I should have mentioned next Wednesday as a recommended day to stay indoors!

At the moment a superb summer this side o't Pennines, Draco. Daytime temps 18 -20°C, relatively dry and with a nice breeze. Just the sort of weather to be enjoying the outdoors- without being fried or burnt. Plenty of rain at night to keep things fresh and green and a pleasant nighttime temperature for repose...

        ... perfect!

Nice to hear, but on WEST side of same Pennines it's yuk - and thanks for reminding me that there are still Pennines because THIS a.m. as I post I can see NOWT of them but deep mizzle, thick, very low, foggy clouds and a temp close to 10C. Summer is icumen in, is it? Hmm.

It only tipped it down for about five minutes while I was on my walk - and while my brolly was up for most the walk, it could've been worse. It's not raining now...

Moderate rain falling here as I write, and the local forecast is for worse - not surprisingly given the reading on the barometer and the look of the chart! I'm only surprised it's not much worse!

Bit of an outlier here as it's sunny and rather pleasant at 19 degrees but it's not forecast to last, unfortunately.

Here yet another filthy day - cold, wet, dank, relentless westerlies veering to even colder North-Westerlies.
Summer? Don't make me laugh. Temp here 10C max.

It travelled over here during the night, so currently wet and windy although showing signs of clearing as per forecast. Even if the rain stops though the brisk NW airflow is going to require something more than normal summer attire for being out and about.

Locals still in mid-Spring warm stuff, and only the 'tourists' here are doing summer attire, but ten minutes after getting out of the cars, they wish they'd worn more! Bit better this a.m. - so far....!

I must live in a very fortunate part of the 'home counties'. I have been wearing a maximum of single-layer clothing (with the exception of socks and shoes, since early May this year, and still feel warm in such limited attire. There again, we do seem to have experienced lower rainfall than much of southern England. Many local water courses have dried up, as have many ponds. Only in fairly recent days have some shown signs of recovery.

Warm clobber at the ready in anticipation of unseasonably low temperatures tomorrow, in addition to strong winds and copious amounts of rain. The online met community is asking why an amber warning has not been issued to Cornwall and north Devon, where campers in particular look to be in considerable peril if the predicted gales take place.

The Guardian online has been covering the risks since midday Thursday, including passing on travel advice...
Today has turned out better than expected. It was due to be wild and wet most of the morning, clearing after lunch. However it has been dry, if a bit overcast at times. Judging what to wear has been a bit problematic as some black clouds built up round midday and looked as if they might dump, and when the sun wasn't out it was slightly on the chilly side due to direction and strength of airflow, but as soon as the sun came out it got rather warm and a waterproof jacket or thicker cardi became uncomfortable. I had to factor in a lunchtime recital in a notoriously cold church as well. Never mind, it's all pretty minor stuff in the wider scheme of things.
Tomorrow I don't think we'll be so lucky so fingers crossed there isn't a repeat of the (half-hourly) bus to the city not turning up, leaving a long queue of passengers exposed to a cloudburst, as happened a couple of weeks ago. I was heading to a lunchtime recital in a church that time and will be tomorrow as well so would rather not get soaked beforehand.
