Moderate westerly, very good viz, sky 2/3 cumulus with stratocumulus infill, almost dry apart from a light shower this morning, and a very civilised 21 degs C - all windows flung open following a very muggy night. June was 3 degrees above the average, to my surprise - I thought it would have been higher; somewhere must have been, given that they're saying this was the hottest ever June on record.

Well it would have been hotter here if it wasn't for the persistent cold winds much of the time.

Same here. A disappointing start to July and a disconcerting temperature drop indoors as well as out.

The drop at night(10 degrees the past 2 or 3 nights) has got me eyeing my tomatoes anxiously - damp and cool set the stage for blight. The arrival of some more rain has been welcome but the blustery winds remove it too quickly, and the forecast of yet more wind the next couple of days is not good news for all the lush tender growth in the garden.

I'm wearing my cardigan for the first time since early June. But as I say, I like this weather, I can't be doing with my guitar strings getting all dirty and sweaty quickly which is what happens when it gets above a certain temperature.

Have to say this cooler weather suits me fine, though I need winds to drop a bit before embarking on one of my longer rides. From speaking to others there seems to be a generally agreed range of ideal temperatures, lying somewhere between 20 and 25 degrees celsius.

Should be a pleasant and workable 18 but too much wind and the sun now obscured has knocked that right back. The washing is drying fine, but garden pottering will need a cardi and rethinking bare legs.

Some really quite cold air for the time of year has crept in underneath the backside of the cold front currently snail pacing its way across the SE. I certainly felt it as I sheltered from a downpour outside a shop on the Upper Norwood triangle earlier on this afternoon, when the temperature fell from a muggy 19 C to 15 C in a matter of minutes. The so-called popular press last week were warning of another five heatwaves hitting the British Isles this summer - but I have to say I saw and see no likely sign of this happening, although it should warm up temporarily this coming weekend, most especially across the south and east - you will be less lucky the further north and west you happen to be.

Seems you got the weather today that we had yesterday! Here it's been pleasantly warm today but nothing on the July scale, more like late March if anything.

Temperatures didn't quite reach the dizzy heights forecast today - here in S London at least; but it was a more than pleasant day, with temperatures reaching a breezy 28C with near-cloudless skies. Tomorrow will be a different story.
