The original 10 day forecast for here during this week spoke of some good sunshine with temperatures in the 18-20 degrees area. The reality has been very different: cool, cloudy and very windy. Currently edged up to 14 degrees (feels like 12) with the first sunshine of the day but the truth is that these 10 day forecasts are completely worthless and constitute little more than guesswork at best and downright lies at worst.
We've still not properly emerged from winter here apart from the odd reasonably decent day just before Easter."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Seems it not so good to be "stuck in the middle (lands) with you"...
...will be there at the weekend though (well, Derby - is that the Midlands?).

The wind has increased to a surprising degree today as it backs round to the NNW ahead of one of those strange meteorological events that happen from time to time, more usually in severely cold winters - namely a frontal depression coming in from the east, and its thick accompanying cloud now spilling in from that quadrant with moderate rain to follow, I expect. Earlier on it did manage to reach 15C despite a quite strong breeze - now down to 13C.

Just our luck.
Solar battery developed problems over a month ago.
Replacement finally authorised (it was under warranty but now discontinued as a model) and delivered earlier this week, being installed today.
So guess what: rain forecast.
Loads of excess power exported (though at a miserable 3p per unit) is some consolation.

Heavy morning rain here with a very strong wind - not the ideal combination for shopping but had no choice. Temperature just about scraping into double figures but it feels much more like late February/early March. Still stuck in winter here with big coat and woolly hat being the order of the day."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Thunderstorm closing in from the west as I write. This was forecast, but I have to admit to being wrong-footed on this one: cumulus build up was well underway over NE London when I took my walk earlier, but skies approaching from the west looked pretty stable. Winds are converging on London from the SW, WNW and NNW at the moment, and this can be seen in changes in direction in the approaching cloud base.
