I was in Bristol this morning. After a pleasant*. drive through Bath and the Bristol suburbs, the weather stayed fine and sunny for my couple of hours there in the SS Great Britain area. A haven for industrial heritage fans.

Been hammering it down ever since lunchtime. Not really very good weather for those interested in preseason cricket training.

BBC forecast for sunday is for rain, met office is for dry and breezy. I’m going with the met office one.

    *slow. Very slow, of course.

I had a flat in that area (Jacob's Wells Road) very close to the SS Great Britain in the winter of 1988/9 during a few months of working in Bristol. Seems a very long time ago now.

Lots of much needed rain here in the past few days after a very dry winter. I can cope with a wet winter, a wet spring, not so much.

First thunder of the day in London just new registered over Eltham during a heavy shower - which I didn't actually hear, probably due to the wind, being a westerly, carrying the sound away east. I was going to write first of the year, but on checking I note we had a heavy thunderstorm back on January 7th. I expect we'll be in for more of this today, with a marked convergence line running W-E along the M4/A13 corridor.

Far too much wind. Yesterday would have been a lovely balmy day but for the high 30s westerly and today is even cooler as the sun is at best fitful.

28th March mid-afternoon - total filth - very cold - temp 3C - drizzle, fog / mist right down on fell tops, and, contrary to some forecasts, wind is not just westerly, but has real attitude -
              SO different to yesterday.

We've had heavy rain here nearly all day and it's felt quite cold for late March which means the heating has been on after being off for the last few days apart from the late evening. Yesterday was ideal for garden clearing but no chance of continuing with that task in the near future judging from the 10 day forecast.

While we do not need flooding, we do need the water.

Thunder just reported this minute near Chichester. Today's showers will be replaced by tonight's wind and rain, then it's back to heavy showers for tomorrow, albeit with lower temperatures, as a vigorous low crosses the south, and then rather a cold weekend with high pressure plunging down from Scandinavia to the west of Scotland. Don't worry though - it's back to changeable with normal early April temperatures for next week!

The day started well... Cloudless blue sky, gentle breeze, very mild. Just what I needed for dealing with the overgrown grass or so I thought. Mid-morning, just as I was thinking of getting into the garden, it suddenly got grey, the wind got up, and spots of rain appeared. A quick check online as I had the computer on showed a mass of wet cloud across the area and the forecast had changed to rain for the rest of the morning and into early afternoon. I did get a bit of strimming done nonetheless before it got just too wet to be sensible. About 3pm the sun started to come out, the wind dropped significantly, and the rain departed; it's now set to be a pleasant evening.
Tomorrow doesn't look too good - wet, and with a cold wind, although not, with luck, as strong as today.

Here it's been a case of hefty showers interspersed with bits of sunshine and even occasionally both at the same time and windy with it. It's all calmed down, at least for now, but there's been no chance of resuming gardening activity today, nor does it look likely for the foreseeable.

All that can be said about today's offering is that it shouldn't be too windy...But that's grabbing at straws faced with grey, wet or very wet, and cold. I have to go out as I have errands and need the exercise but there is unlikely to be any pleasure from it; such conditions do not favour the random encounters and chances for chat that are a valuable contribution to my life.
