Warsaw in Poland recorded a maximum temp of 18C yesterday - a record, 5C higher than the previous one for that country. A lot of discussion on UKWW site, including around the possibility of residual heat from this past summer, the warmest yet recorded, globally and in many places locally worldwide, while noting that sea surface temperatures down in the Med, the source of the airstream, are also unusually high.
Here just a typical January day associated with a passing ridge of high pressure before the next Atlantic vigorous low speeds in to give all areas strong to gale-force winds and rain from Tomorrow to Thursday.
This morning I had the surprise of discovering large balls of grey fur all over my outside doormat! I can only explain this by the mysterious nocturnal presence of a very large, lynx-like grey cat, complete with tufted ears but also long fur, which has lately been lurking in the porch area outside my flat and the next-door neighbour's, which I had chased away on a couple of occasions, mistaking it for a fox. Cats sometime like to find a rough surface to roll around on if they are suffering with fleas or itchy skin conditions; my doormat might well have been ideal for the purpose.

V warm in Berlin according to my sources….
Lovely here today, mild, sunny, loads of folk out walking their packs of hounds.
Went for a most enjoyable gentle run for an hour down the woods, before coming back to make inroads into the high calorie leftover.xmas and new year grub.
Back to work tomorrow.
In the good old days, Mrs TS would have qualified for her state pension in two weeks time…..instead of in 20 ***** 30 .I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

The forecast looks a bit odd, with wind getting very strong, and rain mostly continuing, but the temperature rising at the same time so the hours of darkness will be several degrees up on today's daytime temperatures.
