The Met Office and MeteoGroup (BBC) forecasts for my area today are at considerable loggerheads over the probability of precipitation today. It makes planning a long woodland walk a little problematic.

Very rainy here, wife has gone to take her mother to hospital to check up on mothers broken wrist, I have been left with a messy house to tidy but at least it means I can listen to radio 3. Had a shave as son said I scratchy face. Think I will make some banana loaf.

A cross between banana bread and a drizzle cake, this easy banana loaf recipe is a quick bake that can be frozen. It's great for using up overripe bananas, too.

Being originally from wet Yorkshire I know there are things you do on wet days and things you do on sunny days.

On a local wellness walks group on the 2nd, is muddy and lots of puddles so not ideal but it gets me out.

Housework will listening to radio 3, that's my life.
Annoyingly listening to and commenting on radio 3...

Anyone prefer this weather to the cold, crisp, snow crunchingly inviting days we used to have at the year's fag end?

Less dangerous, my mother in law fell over due to ice and broke her wrist. Taxi driver also told me lots of small roads ungritted and cars were just sliding across ice.

Snow meant snowball fights and making a snowman but the ice was dangerous.

Rather wet and wild last night, but a glorious morning. It's due to cloud over later but should stay dry and mild, and I'm just pleased to see the sun - it does lift the spirits.

In prevailing westerlies, yes. In easterlies, particularly in spring and early summer, however, he can have the advantage of the "Föhn effect", arising from easterly winds descending and drying out, leading to high temperatures to the lee of high ground, at the same time as people living on the east side of e.g. The Pennines can be experiencing damp and cold conditions!

Yesterday was wet practically all day; today has remained cloudy, and the rain seems to have now returned, although earlier on I was able to put my weekly laundry on the line and have it almost dry within just a few hours, ready for ironing shortly. Down in this part of the world it has been sufficiently mild not to have had the CH heating on for the past 3 days - unprecedented for this time of the year, in the time I've been living here.
