'Ark at ee! - as Bristolians might well still say.

Looking at the midday chart just now, it doesn't surprise that this morning's cold front took so long to cross: the rain area was more than 100 miles across, right along its length. The break came quite suddenly at half past noon; now for the first time in quite a while we're in cooler maritime polar air. More strong frontal systems to come along during the rest of the week, and it's going to feel quite cold by Friday.

Reasonable start, light rain at 11am as forecast cleared after abut 30 minutes to leave sun and brilliant blue sky and a noticeable rise in temperature. Made for a good gardening stint although the lush grass meant a certain amount of rising damp for those not in wellies. Ending the day in sun is a bonus when there has been so much grey and the evening comes too quickly. Tomorrow is looking thoroughly yuk all day and it could be a cold wet and windy walk to choir; thank goodness only a short one.

If the charts are right we can expect to be right in the centre of a deepening low here by midnight - one which barely moves north, and hangs around the Midlands right through tomorrow and into Friday before filling up; so we can expect a lot of rain here, continuing most of tomorrow, and also, for the Midlands, lasting through much of Friday as well!

Every year, we have the same situation. Flooding in the same areas.

I hope you're all right where you are, BBM.

I would have reported on last night's massive crash of thunder at 8.45 pm, but for the breakdown - just one over London, although I saw there was some thunder in the Crawley area. To be honest it came as a complete surprise to me. The sky is now brightening slowly from the south, as the depression with its associated rain band creeps north and fresh westerlies blow in across Wales and southern areas. 9 Celsius at midday, so rather on the cold side for late November. Central heating still off - I did switch on for an hour before the arrival of a friend yesterday, who, I know, feels cold more than I do!

And now for some teens on boast for my lunch!

Rain, rain and, just for a change, more rain! Started in earnest yesterday evening, carried on through much of the night, couple of hours respite late morning/lunchtime, now starting again. So far the rain is light but as the wind is increasing again it sounds and feels worse than it would otherwise.

Extraordinary watching back footage of that low crossing London at midnight and then spinning its way north in your direction - the nearest our experience comes to being in the eye of a hurricane!

Well, up here, it is indeed raining, BUT driven by a very nasty NE wind - NOT the westerly / south-westerly BBC forecast.
And, believe me, it is COLD. Temp as I post is 5C.

There was flooding, in a road near us and other places. Always the same. Our council doesn’t seem to do anything.

Sunny and fairly cold here in Yoxall, though I still removed my jacket on my walk this morning.

A soggy start to the day and it had evidently rained more than a little during the early hours - which hadn't been on the cards when I looked at about 10pm. The wet stopped and then late morning the sun started to get through and the temperature - dropped... The wind had done a smart about-turn to easterly and picked up speed so was going through rather than round. For all that it was good to see things drying out quickly and sun and blue sky is preferable to grey murk. It will be chilly overnight.
