I use the Met Office weather app. I find it pretty good, on the whole. It's a shame the Beeb ditched them for Meteo https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...-bbc-rejection

Fair tipping it down here in Braccan Heal right now. It's playing some interestingly complex rhythms on the chimney cowling.

Still to reach here - goodness, how slowly this front is moving: they did warn it would hang around the SE for much of tomorrow. We did have some moderate rain earlier this evening.

I agree on Met Office app which is the one I go to first and mostly rely on. Since the last update a couple of weeks ago the rain forecast radar map is for me now definitely the best

A grey soggy morning. The rain doesn't sound or seem heavy at first sight because there is no wind but watching the quantity of water collecting in a bucket of apples by my back door (no I wasn't intending to go apple bobbing...) and the stream across my back yard from next door's overflowing waterbutt (sigh) gives a rather more accurate picture. It should clear by late morning according to the current forecast, but is looking to be slowmoving and the estimate has already moved from 10 am to 11 am so who knows. Errands will be put on hold for now; although I'll be using the car, getting in and out several times and making the brief walk to drop things off etc will get me almost as damp as walking anyway - with the added irritation of making the car damp inside so it fogs up.

Yep, I love the rain forecast map - very useful when planning an outing.

                And now..........?
3.32: drenchingly wild........... Oh, yes, wild winds and seriously cold.

This talk of temps being 12C +...?
Still well above average (or "normal" as the metoffice insists on calling it ) for the time of year.

Like it or not, only one of those two weather observations is close to "normal".

A nearby weather station at Marlborough has total October rainfall hereabouts at 110.9 mm (4.3 in), well above the local long-term October average which is around 80 mm. Local river levels seem to be back to normal after the summer's drought. https://check-for-flooding.service.g...tton%20Bassett

Interesting. Can I ask from where you obtain your meterological information? The MetOffice website appears to be completely useless, concentrating only on providing "Extremes".

Well there was indeed exceptional rainfall over parts of an area east of a line from Southampton to The Wash, causing floods in a number of places. Here we have been extremely lucky - it leapfrogged this part of London.

No frost here - overnight frontal cloud took too long to clear for the necessary temperature fall - but 9 degrees C at noon today is the lowest since April 9th - an unwelcome reminder of how long it takes to warm up following winter. Nice and sunny though!
