Substantial rain here last night - could actually hear it through closed windows. Residual clag now breaking up to give a warm, humid, almost windless afternoon. Too early to announce what and where for the weekend, but with the jet stream following a large anticlockwise Atlantic trip originating between Canada and Greenland to reach us all from the SW it should continue unprecedentedly mild for October but with rain at some time in most areas. I shall have to get my woodland walks underway soon before the paths turn into quagmires.

Yes, I did know it was 'dreich' - thx for correction - a hasty posting that should have been corrected.

Pleasant conditions for my 3-mile cycle to E Dulwich Sainsburys for my big weekly groceries provision this afternoon, with just a few light raindrops on the return journey. What really is remarkable this year is the extension of daytime temperatures regularly exceeding 15C this far into October. By now I would normally be returning to hot cooked meals, but this has meant being able to stick with salads, thus saving huge amounts on electricity!
Internet connection keeps cutting out - this has been happening rather a lot lately.

Yet another nice sunny day here.
Early sunshine has now given way to high cloud spreading from the south, which must be the advance sheet of cirrostratus announcing a warm front moving in this evening.
