That's most probably because of more expected cloud. Today's "warmth" - and it really wasn't that warm, only 16.5 degs C max here - was down to the strength of the sun; at higher levels the temperatures remain low for the time of year, under this "cold" anticyclone of sub-arctic origin.

These things are subjective and relative. If you've been experiencing days on end of temperatures struggling to breach the double digit barrier then 16.5 is warm...

          A cloudy day, today, methinks.

            Here too.
We need it, though, so not really complaining, but it's pretty cold too!

Not such a rare thing in your area, I imagine.

Clouds now well down and most of the fells invisible.
Actually over the past three plus weeks we have had no ran at all, not a drop, and non-stop sun, but gardens suffered - even in a Cumbrian April. I've been watering plants!

Rain began falling as I was about to dish lunch up, and I had to go out and grab the washing off the line. Worse than that, a squirrel had left a message on my fitted bed sheet which needed immediate removing to prevent staining - which happens quite often here! Worse still, it has now stopped raining, and the sun is threatening to break through!

On Orford Ness today, cloudy and chilly and a little rain at lunchtime but a little easier though not sunny as the afternoon progressed.

Indeed -rather spoiling the slightly above average temperature of 15C at midday. Hopefully the cumulus with stratocumulus infill will break up a bit this afternoon and allow for some warm sunshine to get through, but this could help to break the stratocumulus "cap" and set off showers, maybe with thunder - mind, this is more likely to happen tomorrow, widely.

How goes the new mobile throne, BBM?

Despite the lack of sun, I like this weather - mild and still. Also for this time of year and after rain, everything is quite lush.

That’s a good one! It’s rather heavy for MrsBBM to lift, unfortunately. We are thinking of buying a Volkswagen Caddy. This be a lot easier, as MrsBBM will be able just to winch the scooter up, no problem. Can’t wait! Other than that, a good ride. Thank you.

                              A rather dull day today.

Here too - again a thick stratocumulus layer has formed at an inversion cap around 10k ft, like yesterday, which prevented surface convection, so we have a repetition of the gloom but little prospect of showers developing unless the Sc breaks up to allow for surface solar heating. At least the painters will not frazzle like last time - a fantastic-looking lime green cherry-picker has been installed outside this window, waiting to be incrementally trundled along this, the northern side of the block - the drive for the garages occupying the entire ground floor level.
