I hope you wrapped up well, BBM - notwithstanding the wall-to-wall blue sky, that easterly is bracing, as the euphemists might say!

Well it's certainly blown away a few cobwebs here, where we have the full benefit. An afternoon stint in the garden was a case of keeping moving and avoiding the shady areas were possible. Made the house seem lovely and warm when I came in though, even though the heating hasn't been on since last night. It'll need to go on soon as the sun, currently warming the front of the house, is going to be behind the houses shortly and the temperature will drop. More of the same tomorrow it would seem, although colder.

It was rather. I had a Sherpa fleece on, plus a thick jumper! It still went right through me!

Looks like a great day, out there today, but, I’m sure, quite cold!

A sunny morning but distinctly chilly. It's now clouded over which hasn't helped the temps any. I don't know if we'll get rain later but it's going to be a chilly night whether or no; should be a bit milder tomorrow as the wind shifts round, I hope so as I have errands and garden jobs to do and would rather not be fruz.

Saharan sand again? I've just seen the moon and it looks like a truckle of red leicester.

Bright but sharp overnight frost (on the grass, cars, and house roofs); currently -2C according to my smartphone app.

Similar here. The temp seems to have taken a sudden nosedive just before dawn, and -2 here on my backdoor thermometer; Monday morning windscreen scraping for my neighbours. Brilliant sunshine and no breeze should warm things up quickly and keep it mild during the day, so better than yesterday which was distinctly nippy.

Today there was little wind, but unlike the previous two days, I needed a jacket for most my walk. Tomorrow will apparently get up to 18!

Lovely day with barely any breeze but a chilly evening here.

Make the most of the next 4 days, because on Saturday the high bringing us this lovely weather shifts westwards, allowing cooler air to flow down from the north on its eastern side, which is where we'll be from the weekend on.

                        Typical. When the weekend comes!

Probably not how we'll describe it in these parts!
In the meantime I'll make the most of sunshine and warmth. Grass cutting this afternoon I think, recent heavy rain has encourage it and the two cuts already done have grown out. The clippings will be useful temporarily on the veg beds I've cleared but can't stay too long as the high moss content starts to make itself at home and adds to the weeding duties.

We've given up on the idea of neat lawnsmanship here, preferring since last year not to cut the grass as often as previous residents now departed demanded, and as a result the moss content has been considerably reduced, allowing for a much healthier sward attracting those much-needed insects. Moss has become more of a problem on paths and in the asphalted clothes drying compound, partly as a consequence of the enlarging shaded area adjacent to the two remaining tall conifers, making for slippery conditions and more than one sprained ankle. Summer seems to be the time for remedying this with moss killer, but the dead, browned moss still has to be raked away.

Today looks to be the first day of "proper" early summer temperatures - 17C already at 12 noon, an almost clear but slightly obscured sky and hazy views of the beyond - beyond the London Eye, that is!

There was a reason I said grass cutting rather than lawn-mowing! I have to keep the blades fairly high as the area is so dreadfully uneven and there would be too many scalpings; the moss just grows up to match the height of the grass, but on the plus side it does allow the non-grass plants to flower, and the moss stays green and is nice and soft to walk on.
Lovely summer's day today...Peaked at 19 degrees and full benefit thanks to no wind to speak of. Tomorrow so far set to be slightly cooler, which wouldn't be unwelcome for the gardening stint.

We too have a problem of uneven lawn surfaces, which we have rermedied to a certain extent by levelling up (that oh so fashionable concept!) with soil, a heavy rolling, and then just allowing the buried grass to come through. But there are occasional fox holes, which can only be filled in with a brick and stones. This ha to be done as people never remember exactly where the holes are, and complaints have come my way, me being the "garden co-ordinator" here!
