Have you checked your thermometer Draco...

...it always seems rather cold over there, at least compared to over here.

I have to say I do sometimes wonder. DracoM is however in quite an elevated valley, which on near-calm nights must at the same time be subject to katabatic flows, which would take temperatures down lower than on the tops of surrounding hills and mountains, giving a lower starting point from which to reach daytime maxima, and so on.

Very dull and dismal with drizzle so far today here, and "proper" rain expected as the front producing this peps up later on; temperature hovering around the 6-7 degree mark. Can't see much improvement for us until Weds at the earliest.

Base of dale is 500ft above sea level, in direct path of strong westerlies channelled between two bumpy ridges of fells off Irish Sea, and unhindered NE winds across the bleakest of the N.York moors.

Sky clearing as I post - we're in for another deep frost, I'd guess?

Since it seems to prompt such dismissive disbelief, I will keep my weather states updates here to myself from now on.

Here too - though the relative lack of wind made using my new umbrella possible while on my walk, fortunately.

It seems as if this rain-bearing front is going to be more-or-less in situ until Saturday, when it will be squeezed into oblivion by the highs to the west as east bridging across the north of the UK, and then merging into a much stronger high expected to build west from eastern Europe, bringing a return to dry but rather cloudy conditions across the whole country. This does not appear to be a "beast from the East" from the outbreak as the air should undergo some warming as it travels west, but temperatures will nevertheless still be a few degrees below the averages for early March.

Just hope that St Prian’s Day - Saturday will be devoid of anything falling out of the sky and not too cold as I have two outdoor sings!

Don't fancy a "Wash me throughly" then?
It was wet overnight here and first thing but cleared to just damp and grey - also more cold than expected - for the gardening session, with the (light) rain returning after lunch. The Met Office recording station to the west shows it was rain/drizzle all day, as forecast, so there must have been quite a sharp cut off between there and here. Even on the flat a few miles can make a difference!

Oh but it's quite mild actually, and the sun's even been managing to get through at least two cloud layers. I might just take a long cycle ride this afternoon. Hopefully not too many twigs and fallen branches along the route I intend taking.
