It would be a "long long way to go" for me without a jacket.....I might need someone to "take me home"...

Rain just abated....better get out there, now! Hope all those Fieldfares (100+ yesterday) are still there....

Cooler and with enough breeze to (almost) get the washing dry.

Sunny all day - sorry. Wind rather too much in evidence and keeping the temperature down compared to the last two days, but pleasant to be out none the less.

The cold front passing through here right at this moment with quite heavy rain has reduced the temperature from 8 C to 4 C in 10 minutes! Windows now all steamed up. Winds picking up, as expected: not particularly looking forward to my shopping trip this afternoon!

Snow on tops, frost, clear skies overhead at the mo, but cloud on distant horizons on a wind bringing it this way.

That cold front is certainly dragging its heels. Signs of a lightening of the skies far to the north, but it's still raining here - the temperature has dropped to 2 degrees C, but my obsessional precipitation observation (for accuracy of reporting in my weather diary!) reveals no snow in the mix here. Since moving here I've often observed this happening in like situations, the traversing of residual warm air over central London probably being a factor.

Oof, double digit drop in temperature from yesterday, and a strong wind first thing adding to the effect. On the plus side it's dry and by the time I went out towards midday the sun was properly out and the wind had dropped considerably. It's going to be a parky night and the wind is due to get stroppy again under cover of darkness.

Indeed my hands were somewhat painful on returning from the shops this afternoon, having omitted to don my gloves. We had an absolutely stunning sunset here just now - the lumpy undersides of the retreating rain belt illuminated a vivid magenta. It always seems to be departing cold fronts that produce the most dramatic sunsets. If the BBC got sent a shot of it and publicises it with tomorrow's forecast I'll link it here.

Another year, another power cut. Went off about 4pm, and we were informed by the powerless-that-be that we'd be back on by 7pm...on second thoughts, make that 10pm. A right chilly windy night out there, and not that warm in here either. Back on now!

3 snaps of yesterday's sunset across London were selected by the BBC weather folks. Not as impressive as it actually was, but the second from the left is closest as regards the colours!

Thermometer by the back door at -4 last night, condensation to mop up from the windows this morning; the front door and particularly the letterbox are a real nuisance as they drip on the floor. Brilliant sunshine until about 40 mins ago made things look pretty and did a good job of clearing the frost, now it's clouding over although still reasonably bright, and staying dry, but with that unpleasant wind. The strong wind and its direction will have pushed the frost into parts of the garden normally pretty sheltered, including racks of seedlings and cuttings, so there may have been some casualties - a greenhouse would be so useful but that's still a way off yet.
