Hiya SA. I went for one of my regular jamming sessions yesterday. My friend's wife goes out on one of her regul;ar cycle rides as well, at this time and she came back looking quite cold!
The sun is out hurrah! Unfortunately at this time, being south facing, I have to shut one of the blinds. a shame, I know, but the sun comes right through!Don’t cry for me

Tonight a switch in the weather from a weak anticyclonic continental polar type to a strong cold zonal maritime polar type takes place, starting to hit Scotland and the NW as I write, and spreading right across the whole country to be leaving by the SE tomorrow late morning. So it will be clearer and much brighter thereafter, but feeling a lot colder with the accompanying wind chill, and as usual in these setups there'll be a lot of showers, and of the wintry kind the further north, or up, one is! Wednesday into Thursday is the major one to prepare for, as this is being assessed as possibly to be the big blow of the entire winter, with the S coast, Midlands, E and E Anglia particularly affected by damaging winds, and north of those area possibly heavy snow. If the calcs are right this could be really nasty.

Yes, I use yr.no for weather, and mid-afternoon, there was a radical change in their forecast for today p.m. onwards into Mon / Tues. No rain all day, but almost dead on 7.30 p.m., rain and briskish wind. And now rodding it down!
And continued to all night, drop in temp this a.m. [Mon], and wind still brisk.
I sense snow coming, but too wet to settle. By mid p.m. maybe...?? .Last edited by DracoM; 15-01-18, 11:43.

Otherwise it's a luxury having a south-facing room, as even at this time of year there's enough warmth in the sun's strength to keep the living room warm and friendly. And in any case the problem only runs from around November 10th to this point in January, when the sun's back above window level, so ter speak!

The cold front passed through London just after midday, with 10 minutdes of heavy rain, and a nice cumulonimbus line visible in its wake to the east. Someone on a local weather site reported on clap of thunder, which wouldn't surprise me. It still looks like we're nearly all, Scotland apart, in for quite a big blow, starting late afternoon on Wednesday before spreading to the SE by midnight, and continuing until Thursday evening. The far north of England and Wales and southern half of Sclotland, being in the cold sector to the north of the low pressure centre, could be in for a spell of heavy snow, though the precise tracking of the centre still needs to be finessed, and that will affect which areas get snow and which receive the strongest winds.
