Well here it's just dull and raw-feeling, with poor visibility under a featureless grey sky; and that's more-or-less the way it's expected to continue this week - the type of weather that seems to make a winter drag on and on. But for all that, I prefer living in a climate where we have actual seasons, even if they often get a bit mixed up, than in one with permanent temperatures of between 23 C and 33 C, as in the tropics, and hot sunshine predominating most days, apart from the odd monsoon: more variety!

... indeed so : before university I spent a year with Voluntary Service Overseas in Douala, not a climate I wd recommend -

Get updates on average humidity in Douala by month. From the most humid month, August, to the least humid month, February, know everything

Rather nippy yesterday! Me and MrsBBM went to look at cars and found a model that we liked! A Renault that we liked. A Capture. Never heard of this one before but very nice and comfortable, which is the main thing for me.

There is fog on the horizon as there has been for half the days in the past month.

But is it fog, just 15 miles south of Central London, or smog and how can one tell?

After yesterday's overcast day, good to see the sun! We are going to pick up our new car today!

Oop 'ere, wall-to-wall grey, damp, drizzly mist, and them fells have taken advantage of it to go walkabout again. Nature? There's no trusting it.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere we have misty SUN!! Hurray!

Sounds not too bad there DracoM! Rather cold today, especially in Brighton, where I had to go for a review for that cataract op I had. All doing very well!

Same (minus the Fells) a few miles down the road from you today - and has the sun now decided it's far too chilly to be outdoors and has disappeared again?

Nay sun 'ere, lad. Just grey mizzle, and getting colder. Oh, yes, and fells is back - temporary like.

Glad to hear this, Bbm. Now that you can see more clearly it won't matter so much it being foggy!

I can see some sun trying it's best to come out, towards the SE! Hopefully!

The cloud base has lifted here, at last, meaning that at least humidity levels (probably the cause of my left shoulder pain over the past week!) have gone down somewhat, taking the fog and drizzle with them. It looks likely to get quite a bit colder from Monday night onwards for a week, with strong north-westerlies carrying that exceptionally cold air over Canada this way. Though there will be some modification as that air crosses the Atlantic on a long "fetch", the consequent de-stabilisation will mean a lot of showers, anywhere north of a line from Bristol to Kings Lynn, and these'll be snowy above a certain height. Midweek is being eyed for a possible deep secondary low crossing the N Midlands, which would probably mean gales on its south side and heavy snow to its north, so we'll have to keep a lookout for that.
