Stormy Weather II

Glorious dawn today over quite a prolonged period about 40 minutes. The show started with a pink, damson, slate ombre effect over high soft cloud, moved to red and orange horizontal watercolour broad brush strokes highlighted with gold, then moved into the apricot and celadon combo which is probably my favourite. That wasn't the end of it though as there was then a brief interesting period of a soft grey wash with silver feathers overlaid before general cloud cover took over. The varied cloud really set off the colours and had the added benefit of hiding the contrail scars until the horizon cleared and they were revealed slicing out from the edge of the colour bands.
It was certainly a shepherd's warning though as the day became increasingly wet, with a final bucketing flourish about 3pm for which I was fortunately in the supermarket. At work visitors were having to dodge the showers which were mostly light and brief until about 1pm but the strong wind made a little wet go a long way! Quite a bit of watery blue sky to the east at the moment but there is another belt of murk coming across from the west which may or may not leak. The weekend isn't looking too promising at present which is a shame as it's the end of the season which is always a bit sad anyway, and even more so this year as we are saying goodbye to several longstanding staff, so bad weather doesn't help the mood.
