Are you in Ireland then, un barbu? We had our windstorm for a few hours after midnight - kept me awake, broken branches now strewn all about the place - before the winds died down this morning. Judging by the lightning radar site there's just been a bit of a thunderstorm here in NE London, with spherics trailing up the M11 towards Stansted, though it was only an hour's moderate rain here. The trailing anvil cloud from that storm promises us an impressive orange sunset here in the next half hour.

In Central Scotland where all is now just a wee bit blowy with some rain. It was fun while it lasted --put on 'The Land of the Mountain and the Flood' and cooried doon.

Another lovely morning in this bit of the Pennines - mild, sunshine, and quite clear skies; 2017 bowing out with good grace. Then, this afternoon, slight drizzle as I was putting out the bird feeders.

Just realised that the torrential rain and flooding two days ago might have been the remnants of Dylan. Started to get dripping water inside the house too, so either the plumbing has sprung a leak, or some tiles have blow up or off, and rain has got under and down to drip through the ceiling. Not so bad today, but now definitely monitoring the weather and the state of our ceilings. Won't be worth patching the ceiling if I can't find the cause of the water drips and stop it.

Yup - 2018 is starting in a surly mood: it was mild and pleasant at 00:10hrs when I First Footed, but began to rain heavily only a couple of minutes after I'd got back in. Very dark, gloomy, and drizzerable all this morning - but clearing up now, with bits of blue just noticeable in the sky.

This week looks likely to be dominated by westerly winds, with temperatures near the expected norms, and a possiblity of a turn to colder north-westerlies next weekend, thus continuing the alternating mild/cold pattern established in December. For Wednesday, the Met Office has put out a Yellow Warning for very strong winds and heavy showers right across the bulk of England and Wales. So, If you're thinking of getting out, even just to replenish the larder, tomorrow looks to be the best bet.

Doesn't look very good out there today! Rather overcast but I am sure it will rain today!

I've also had some music published yesterday!

Indeed Bbm - I've just been out "to replenish the larder" and had to face uncomfortably cold moderate rain on the bike - a lot more than the "light patchy rain" forecast by the Met Office - or whomever the Beeb has given the franchise! Seems the word about tomorrow's expected severe weather has got around - the lovely French lady on the checkout at the local St Sprees was in animated form on the subject. One of the twin entrances was fenced off, and the reason was to be found just inside, a dozen plastic buckets acting as receptacles for water dripping through the ceiling at several points - and it had barely even begun to rain!

                      That's good news, Bbm!

Well, oop 'ere, the world seems composed entirely of different densities of water only, from pavements to trees to fells to skies. All driven by a cold NE-wind. Yuk.

The firm that should have come yesterday to start work on our trees, but didn't because of the rain, arrived this morning, put in a couple of hours, then gave up, saying it was too dangerous in the present wind conditions. I'm not sure what brought down more branches - them, or the gale!

It's blowing a gale once more, and I have to go out in it! No bike: too risky. They did warn that today would be a repeat performance, last night.
