Bit too warm for me, but luckily(sort of) I was up early and so able to get the big shop done before the car became too much of an oven. There is a welcome breeze but that increases the need to be careful of sunburn, and it's sucking the moisture out of the explosion of growth in the garden. The direction of the breeze will make things nicer for visitors to the coast than last week.

A disappointing afternoon after a glorious morning. The sun disappeared behind some very thick black cloud and hasn't been seen since 2.30. It keeps on looking as if we're in for a torrential downpour but it never does. Still very warm though."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Poor forecasting for today but at least it has stayed dry and warm."The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink

Make the most of the relative seasonal warmth, however, because it looks likely to break down and become cooler from next Wednesday or Thursday, with temperature maxima back to around the 19-20 C range in the south.
Tomorrow, hopefully a long cycle ride over towards Chiswick and Hammersmith river front via Clapham, Wandsworth, Putney, Barnes and Mortlake, starting out after breakfast while the air is still fresh following tonight's expected switch in wind direction to the NW, and before the sun gets to work - Hammersmith Bridge is still out of bounds, so it will be Thames Pathway all the way from Putney Bridge round to Mortlake, thence crossing the river by Chiswick Bridge, and home in time for tea - and J to Z on 3! En route it might be possible to give Fulham Palace a visit, at any rate the grounds, never in memory having been there, although there is a photo snap of me in pram there in 1946!Last edited by Serial_Apologist; 11-06-21, 10:54.
