Cloudier than expected so far, but the sun appears to be trying to come out now.

It took all the morning for the sun to burn off last night's North Sea stratus, and so the midday temperature was only 15 C, 4 down on yesterday's, and cannot be expected to max at higher than 19 C this afternoon. But that's fine for an afternoon cycle trip, after sorting out the pot plants.

How "major" the expected thundery breakdown between Wednesday and Saturday will turn out to be remains to be seen, with one model predicting a major belt of storms moving NE on Wednesday night and another more sporadic, scattered thundery showers, and possible bigger thundery event on Friday. Temperatures should stay above average, though.

I think I'll take a long cycle ride this afternoon: The Isle of Dogs, together with that great sweep around of the Thames, should look impressive from the Deptford Creek, on this side.

The gentle to moderate easterly won't I suspect prevent the temperature reaching 25 or even 26 C this afternoon - it made it to 22 C yesterday after reaching 19 C at midday here yesterday, and most of the pollution, which was causing people to cough and sneeze everywhere, seems to have cleared, to go by the clear visibility.
I did my 14 mile ride yesterday - thankfully fewer people blocking the way than I had expected. Today a bit of a rest is in order!

Too hot for me! I did manage to get in my volunteer gardening slot but it was a bit of a struggle. The weather report shows 24 degrees for the time I called it a day and I can well believe it. I'm not very good with heat anyway and this flipping straight from late winter into high summer has provoked a flare up of fatigue and joint problems that just makes things hard work. However I am cheered by the fact that yesterday I managed to get most of my young plants into the ground at last, so just the tomato plants to go in the next day or two and some later sown saladings and courgettes which need a bit more growing yet before they go out into the wide world. So nice not to have to be juggling putting things in and out to avoid frost damage!
