It is supposed to be "a deep depression for May", according to at least two weather forecasts today. With climate change, I'm just wondering how long before such a description becomes an anachronism.

Across the pond they did, 2015 and 2021.
This might amuse, in connection with the 2015 which was a hurricane https://williamkendallbooks.blogspot...her-match.html

Blowin' an absolute hooley up here - wind ENE at first but now shifting to a sort of NNW, wet, cold. Temp 4C.
                Yuk.

                      One's supposition is correct.

All over the place, here: lots of wind and rain, yet on my walk I was fortunate to experience about 35 minutes of dry sun - about 15 minutes after I'd returned home, it was hailing.

Following a dry morning after the overnight rain and gales, cumulus is now breaking the inversion cap, with a few drops of rain and rain curtains visible to the north, indicating the arrival of that southward moving, wind-veering trough/convection line; so I'll probably have rain and/or hail to contend with on my walk back from the chemist's, it being too windy to risk it on the bike. Tomorrow "promises" more and heavier showers - might make it Day 1 for my annual spring clean.

Occasional glimpses of sun, but continuing strong wind means it's still perishing cold. The volunteer gardening stint this morning was a gritted teeth affair and less than the usual length of time, as the wind was even stronger, no sun, and increasing amounts of precipitation. There comes a point when " I'm not being paid to do this" gains the upper hand! Tomorrow I am being paid to get cold and windswept, but so far it looks as if it should be dry and sunny, which will be an improvement - hope that doesn't change overnight.

A good start to the day here. I hope it stays like this!

Inclement again - fortunately once again I anticipated it and went out on an early walk.
